FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - This weekend, 10 vote centers opened across Fresno County for valley community members to cast their ballots ahead of Election Day.  Fresno County Clerk James Kus said in-person voting started off with a bang.  "Our vote centers have been very busy yesterday and today to start off our in-person voting at the for this November 5th Election," Kus said Sunday. "We've had almost ten times as many voters these first two days as we'd had in the presidential primary this year. So, a really good start." Kus explained anyone who plans on heading to a vote center should arrive early and avoid wearing any campaign apparel that supports a specific candidate.   "I love that our voters are really excited about candidates. But don't come into a vote center or to a drop box wearing materials for a candidate," he noted. "Electioneering is illegal in California and you will be asked to remove the material we cannot assist a voter who has election material on." Election Coordinator Maryann Dunkin said workers at the vote centers can assist with a variety of different services.   “If your dog chewed your envelope up or whatever, we can get you a new envelope or if you can't find your ballot altogether and you are still in the system and you're still a regular registered voter, yeah, we can print you a new ballot," she explained.  Sandra Friesen is one of the valley community members who decided to vote at a Fresno County vote center.  She said she has been voting for as long as she can remember, but this year was extra special. “I was very excited," she smiled. "I had my granddaughter, who is now 19, meet me. She's voting for the first time." Friesen said voting is not just about tradition. She also believes it is a civic duty. “I want to teach my children to start voting and my grandchildren when they're able. And that's what we've been doing," she said.  Fresno County will open 43 more voting centers the weekend before Election Day.
