NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Dense fog is anticipated across central Louisiana, especially near the Atchafalaya Basin, in the early hours of Monday. Patchy fog may start developing between midnight and early morning, creating potentially low visibility until an hour after sunrise. This fog is expected to be most concentrated west of the I-55 corridor, although clear skies and calm conditions will also lead to fog formation in other low-lying areas. Looking ahead, South Louisiana residents can expect mostly sunny and warm conditions throughout the week. High temperatures are predicted to remain in the low 80s, well above average for late October. Clear skies will persist, and dry conditions should hold through midweek as a high-pressure system strengthens. By Thursday, however, slight chances of rain return as a cold front attempts to move toward the region. Showers are most likely on Thursday, but temperatures will stay unseasonably warm into the weekend, continuing the region’s “summer light” pattern as we approach November.
