LEXINGTON, KY (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – It would take a pretty miraculous turnaround for Kentucky to make a bowl game at this point in the season. They need three more wins and their slate still includes Tennessee, Texas and Louisville. The wildcats needed a win against Auburn to increase the odds, unfortunately, that was not the case in Saturday’s 24-10 loss. After a fast start the cats were up 10-0 in the first quarter, but that was all you would see from Kentucky’s offense for the rest of the game. Quarterback Brock Vandagriff was benched and Gavin Wimsatt took over in the second half. Still, the cats had the same issues they have been facing for weeks; the inability to finish drives and not converting on third and long predictable-pass situations. Kentucky was 4 of 12 on third down and only had 13 total first downs. The defense had issues of their own as well. After letting big plays slip in the air against Florida, the cats let big plays on the ground slip against the tigers. Auburn running back Jarquez individually ran for 278 yards and two touchdowns against the cats. In back to back games, Kentucky’s defense has allowed 476 and 498 yards. Categories: Solid Blue, Sports
