(KRON) – A San Francisco restaurant announces its closing and discloses a “bitter dispute with city officials.” In an Instagram post, Chef Mourad Lahlou reported that fine dining restaurant Mourad has officially closed.  On Mourad’s website, the restaurant said, “It is with a heavy heart that we share with you the closure of Mourad Restaurant. The evening of October 26th was our last service.” The letter to the patrons concluded with the eatery saying, “Stay tuned…”  Mourad is described as a modern interpretation of Moroccan cuisine with local Northern California ingredients. The establishment has been in business for a decade on New Montgomery Street in the SoMa neighborhood. Michelin-starred Korean chef opens steakhouse in downtown SF Chef Lahlou described in the Instagram post a “bitter dispute with city officials” for “over a year.”  The chef said he will divulge the specifics of the dispute at “the appropriate time.” Chef Lahlou acknowledged present and former employees for their “work and loyalty.” He said the employees took on the challenges of the pandemic and were “resourceful, determined, and uncompromising.” The patrons of Mourad and San Francisco received the most praise in the Instagram post. “Without you, none of it would have been possible.” the restaurant said about its patrons.
