Murrieta Valley senior quarterback Bear Bachmeier made his much-anticipated season debut Friday night and helped the Nighthawks to a 57-55 victory over crosstown rival Vista Murrieta in a Big West Conference-North Division game. Bachmeier missed the first eight games of his senior campaign with a knee injury. He showed little rust Friday, passing for 275 yards and three touchdowns while adding another score on the ground. Dorian Hoze led the ground attack for Murrieta Valley (7-2 overall, 3-1 in league) with 265 yards and four touchdown on 18 carries. Cam Connor caught five passes for 109 yards and two touchdowns for the Nighthawks. Vista Murrieta trailed 57-42 with about 4 minutes remaining and nearly pulled off an improbable comeback. Bryson Beaver threw two touchdown passes down the stretch, but the Broncos failed on a 2-point conversion try in the final seconds. Beaver passed for a career-high 478 yards and five touchdowns and added 95 yards and a score on the ground to lead the way for Vista Murrieta. Sean McCullough caught 12 passes for 279 yards and four touchdowns, and Darius Leonard had a pair of scoring runs for the Broncos (5-4, 1-3). The teams combined for 1,295 total yards of offense (666 for Vista Murrieta, 629 for Murrieta Valley). HIGHLIGHTS FROM OTHER GAMES Rancho Christian 30, Hillcrest 21: Kamryn Jones had 15 catches for 329 yards and four touchdowns as the Eagles won a Sunbelt League game Friday. Emiliano Villarreal passed for 361 yards and four touchdowns, and Will Ford ran for 116 yards for Rancho Christian (7-1-1, 4-0). Alexander Villasenor tossed two touchdown passes to Josiah Richards for Hillcrest (5-4, 1-3). Beaumont 56, Redlands East Valley 8: Jeremiah Duhu tossed three touchdown passes and added two scores on the ground as the Cougars clinched at least a share of the Citrus Belt League title Thursday. Travante James-Reek and Trashawn James-Reek combined to rush for 195 yards and three touchdowns for Beaumont (8-1, 4-0). Elsinore 37, Tahquitz 33: Brayden Stankus tossed an 11-yard touchdown pass to Brady O’Connell in the final minute as the Tigers rallied for a a Mountain Pass League victory Thursday. Elsinore (3-6, 1-3) trailed 27-8 with 11 minutes left in the game. O’Connell finished with three catches for 108 yards and two touchdowns. Miller 45, Indian Springs 42: Isaiah Castanos kicked a 26-yard field goal during the final minute as the Rebels clinched the Mountain Valley League title Friday. Ilya Ridge ran for 258 yards and three touchdowns, and Jared Brieske added 110 yards and two scores on the ground for Miller (8-2, 4-0). Damien 38. Ayala 7: Isaiah Arriata passed for 260 yards and three touchdowns as the Spartans clinched at least a share of the Baseline League title Thursday. Malachi McFarland rushed for 177 yards and a touchdown, and Travon Garrison caught four passes for 109 yards and a touchdown for Damien (7-2, 4-0). Banning 54, Cathedral City 32: Jacob Anzaldua passed for 396 yards and four touchdowns as the Broncos clinched as least a share of the Sun Valley League title Friday. Otis White ran for three touchdowns and also had a touchdown reception for Banning (8-1, 2-0). Jmari Garlington caught six passes for 174 yards and two touchdowns, and Junior Dunahoo had four catches for 100 yards and one score for the Broncos. Upland 28, Etiwanda 14: Jerome Smith scored a pair of touchdowns as the Highlanders won a Baseline League game Thursday. Upland improved to 4-5 overall, 2-2 in league play. Vista del Lago 45, Paloma Valley 7: Fabian Bolanos ran for 126 yards and three touchdowns and also caught six passes for 92 yards and one score as the Ravens won an Ivy League game Friday. Josiah Dupree-Boyd tossed three touchdown passes, and Justin Concepcion ran for 133 yards for Vista del Lago (7-2, 2-2). Norte Vista 41, La Sierra 7: Seth Bolender threw three touchdown passes and added a score on the ground as the Braves won a River Valley League game Friday, King Butler caught two touchdown passes and also returned an interception for a touchdown for Norte Vista (8-1, 3-1). Canyon Springs 53, Perris 40: Angel Robles passed for 198 yards and three touchdowns as the Cougars won an Inland Valley League game Friday, Andre Larry ran for 162 yards and three touchdowns, and Aaron Triplett caught four passes for 100 yards and two scores for Canyon Springs (8-1, 4-0). Ryan Arredondo threw two touchdown passes to Mike Lawson and also ran for a touchdown to lead the way for Perris. Chibuzze Ubatuagwu had two scoring runs for the Panthers (6-3, 2-2). San Dimas 30, Alta Loma 22: Julian Vigil ran for 182 yards and two touchdowns as the Saints won a Valle Vista League game Friday, Caleb Morquecho added 106 yards and two scores on the ground for San Dimas (7-2, 3-1).
