KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Police have identified a teenage boy as the victim of a deadly shooting inside a local business Wednesday afternoon in Kansas City, Missouri. According to the Kansas City Police Department, on Wednesday, Oct. 23, just after 3:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of East 36th Street and Indiana Avenue on reports of a shooting. Overnight crash leaves two dead, local business damaged in Kansas City Upon arrival, officers initially reported seeing an adult man suffering from gunshot wounds inside a store. However, it was later confirmed that the victim was actually a teenage boy, 16-year-old Eli Newton. Officers attempted to render medical aid to Newton until emergency responders arrived. He was later pronounced dead at the scene. KCPD also reported that another victim, an adult male, had been shot. He was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Preliminary investigations indicated that the shooting may have been caused by an altercation inside the store. However, there was no indication from police as to what the fight could be about.
