In this year’s election, we have the opportunity to elect one of our own to the state school board. I’m referring to my neighbor, Diane Livingston!  As a parent of six children and former substitute teacher, Diane has had a front row seat in observing and participating in our local education system. Her positions on issues before the State Board of Education include (1) maintaining constitutional restrictions that only allow income tax revenues to be used for schools and services for children and the disabled; (2) opposing book bans except in cases of sexually graphic content; and (3) maintaining the viability of public schools, yet also supporting funding options, especially for lower income groups, to alternative schools that families feel are better suited to address their children’s needs.  Diane will be a tireless board member.
