Sunday is shaping up to be a lovely and sun-filled day. It will be dry and much cooler, with highs in the 50s. Because of the abnormally dry weather this month (this fall, really) and low relative humidity this afternoon, we have an elevated fire weather risk. With all the available dried-out fuel, any fires will be quick to catch and difficult to contain. Thankfully, this afternoon won’t be gusty like Saturday, but these conditions mean we should think before we light anything. We will have a clear sky and little to no wind overnight tonight. As a result, temperatures will drop close to the freezing point or colder outside the cities. We start Monday with lows near 33, and even though there will be another day of sunshine, high temperatures will still be colder than average in the 50s. Monday night into Tuesday morning will be the most frigid of this week as lows nearly everywhere in Southern New England will likely be below freezing. Sunny skies once again help temperatures rise into the 50s. Clouds build in Tuesday night with a slight chance of a shower as a warm front comes through. Much warmer air comes in for Wednesday and Thursday, bringing daytime highs into the 70s for both days. Halloween Evening will be in the 60s, so no coats are required over the costumes this year. A cold front will bring in clouds Thursday, and there is a chance of showers Thursday night into Friday. Next weekend, we will have abundant sunshine and colder-than-average temperatures once again.
