DENVER (KDVR) — To many parents' chagrins, NFL teams nationwide are proving to every child on the planet that an Uncrustable is indeed a viable meal. The Athletic recently published a story after reaching out to NFL teams to figure out which team was consuming the most Uncrustables. One can only wonder where the lead to develop this story spurred from but alas NFL players love themselves an Uncrustable. If you aren't familiar with Uncrustables, you're likely familiar with their inspiration: the peanut butter and jelly sandwich. An Uncrustable is that, minus the crust. They are also stored frozen, intended to be eaten after they have thawed. Why some NFL players wear two mouth guards but only use one While beloved by children, the snack got a special shoutout last year when Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce said on his "New Heights" podcast (which he hosts alongside his brother, former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce) last year that he eats Uncrustables "probably more than I eat anything else in the world." Kelce and his fellow Chiefs players are not, however, the team consuming the most of the un-crusted sandwiches, The Athletic's analysis of the league found. Instead, it's the Denver Broncos. The team enjoys the circular PB&J so much that they consume over double the amount as the next highest NFL team. According to the report, the Broncos consume 700 Uncrustables in a week. The Seattle Seahawks who came in second place in the rankings only ate 320 weekly. With 77 players on the Broncos roster and 700 Uncrustables eaten a week, each player would have to be eating 9.09 Uncrustables. The most ‘Halloween-obsessed’ states in the country, according to a new ranking The top 10 NFL teams who eat the most Uncrustables, according to The Athletic, include: Denver Broncos — 700 Seattle Seahawks — 320 Jacksonville Jaguars — 315 Miami Dolphins — 300 Atlanta Falcons — 250 Pittsburgh Steelers — 225 Arizona Cardinals — 200 Minnesota Vikings — 200 Los Angeles Chargers — 200 Baltimore Ravens — 150 The Chiefs came in 19th overall, consuming roughly 80 Uncrustables a week. The Cincinnati Bengals and the New Orleans Saints landed at the bottom of the list, with each team eating about 50 Uncrustable sandwiches a week. The Las Vegas Raiders outshined both teams by 10 Uncrustables. The entire NFL combined was estimated to eat about 80,000 Uncrustables a year. It's worth noting, however, that eight teams did not provide The Athletic with their consumption data: the Buffalo Bills, the Detroit Lions, the Green Bay Packers, the Houston Texans, the Philadelphia Eagles, the San Francisco 49ers, the New England Patriots, and the New York Jets. The outlet reported that these teams either did not want to participate or make their own sandwiches.
