MINOT, ND (KXNET) — A teenager has sustained serious injuries after crashing his bicycle into a pickup truck on the evening of Thursday, October 24. According to a Facebook post from the Minot Police Department, at approximately 5:14 p.m, a 14-year-old boy was riding his bicycle westbound on 7th Avenue NE when he failed to stop and yield at the intersection, which caused him to collide with a Dodge Ram pickup truck. Witnesses on the scene say that the cyclist appeared to attempt to stop, but that the bicycle's brakes seemed to be malfunctioning. The driver of the truck also attempted to stop, but was unable to avoid the collision. North Dakota Crash Tracker 2024 The driver of the Dodge Ram was not cited. The cyclist was issued a written warning, transported to Trinity Hospital ER, and later airlifted to Fargo for treatment of serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
