A 16-year-old boy was shot to death at a Brooklyn NYCHA complex, cops said Sunday.
The teen was shot in the chest on Auburn Place near N. Portland Ave. outside the Walt Whitman Houses complex in Fort Greene about 11:45 p.m. Saturday, cops said.
“It was a lot of shots,” said a neighbor who gave his name as Small. “it wasn’t one shot, it wasn’t two shots. It was several shots, like more than five.”
Medics rushed the victim to New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital but he couldn’t be saved. His name was not immediately released.

“I didn’t hear any commotion before the shooting,” the neighbor said. “The ambulance tried to help him. He was across the street on the ground near the big parking lot. His body was face up on the ground.”
Police recovered four bullet fragments at the scene and were looking for a gray Hyundai seen speeding off after the shooting, cops said.
“The area is pretty laid back but you’ll hear about a couple of shootings that happen,” said a neighbor who declined to give his name. “I’m just sorry to hear it was a young kid like that. That’s really sad.”
The killing marks the fifth homicide this year in the 88th Precinct, which saw three killings in all of 2023.
