Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) joined ABC’s “This Week,” where he rejected the claims that former President Trump is a fascist, saying the country needs to look at his record, not the rhetoric. Graham was asked about retired Gen. John Kelly’s recent claim that Trump “falls into the general definition” of fascist. Kelly served in the Department of Homeland Security under the Trump administration and said the former president praised Adolf Hitler’s generals for their loyalty. “He’s entitled to his opinion, I just categorically reject it,” Graham said. The South Carolina senator claimed Kelly’s comments were out of “desperation” ahead of the election. ABC’s Jonathan Karl pressed Graham on Trump’s previous statements about Adolf Hitler, where he praised the dictator’s command and his general’s loyalty. “Here’s what I would say to America. President Trump denied that. He said that,” Graham said. “Let’s look at the record rather than the rhetoric.” Graham then pointed to Trump’s military record and said he categorically rejects the idea that the former president does not have admiration for those who serve in the military.
