We finally picked up some rain on Friday! While it was not a lot, it was a welcome sight for many across northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio. The rain we picked up at the airport, which was 0.34 inches, means we are no longer in the running for the driest October on record in Fort Wayne. Our total for the month now stands at 0.35 inches, which places us at the third driest October on record at this point. Even with this rain, we still need quite a bit more to help out the drought conditions we have in place. More rain chances to end the month could improve our standings on this list, and perhaps some slight assistance in the drought conditions, however. You can click on the link below to learn more. Friday rain ends our driest ever October chance We stay on the cool side of a high pressure system to finish the weekend. This will give us plenty more sunshine and seasonable temperatures. It is a cold start to the day, with temperatures in the low-to-mid 30s across the area around sunrise. Wear an extra layer this morning. We get off to a slow start, still in the upper 40s at the start of lunchtime, then reaching the 50s into the afternoon. A chilly start to the day with upper 40s by 11 AM. Temps stay on the brisk side all-day-long with highs around 60 degrees today. More sunshine today adds to the plentiful amount of sunny skies we've seen this month. A brisk afternoon with highs around 60 across the area. Skies are mostly clear overnight with lows returning to the 30s, so hold on to that jacket to start the workweek. On Monday, we start off mostly sunny, but we will see clouds progressively increase, becoming mostly cloudy in the afternoon. We will also see warmer temperatures compared to this weekend, in the mid-to-upper 60s. Clouds increase on Monday, but we're on the warmer side and dry. A drastic increase in warmth will be noted on Tuesday and Thursday as a warm front brings in warmer air from the southwest. This will also bring windy conditions, with gusts up to 35 mph possible on both days. These strong southwesterly winds will also drive high temperatures to record potential. As of now, Fort Wayne will see a high of 80° on Tuesday, and 79° on Wednesday which either tie or break the current records. Tuesday and Wednesday will be windy and potentially record warm! Record warmth will not be seen on Halloween as a cold front moves through. Periods of rain will certainly make this a scarrrryyyy forecast when combined with falling temperatures in the afternoon. Confidence is medium the rain will be gone by trick-or-treat time, but it will certainly feel spooky outside for Halloween night!
