The Bryant University football team fell to No. 19 Richmond 41-14 at Beirne Stadium on Saturday. Carter Neuman recorded his first career touchdown, while fellow tight-end Marc Taglieri Jr. hauled in his second of the season. Freshman Brennan Myer posted 121 yards and two touchdowns in his first collegiate start. Colin Elliott led the team in tackles with a career-high nine. Dedric Walker had a career-high seven tackles, while Cole Nilles also tallied seven TKLs. Nathan Voorhis posted two TFLs and a sack on the defensive side. Key Moment The Spiders tallied 28 points in the second quarter while holding the Black and Gold scoreless, resulting in a 41-7 deficit at halftime. How it Happened The Bulldogs received the ball to begin the game and had good field position after Keylijah Williams posted a 39-yard return, putting Bryant near mid-field. Bryant then recorded a six-play scoring drive that was highlighted by a 26-yard reception by Aldrich Doe and a 23-yard TD for Taglieri (7-0). On the next drive, the Spiders produced a seven-play Touchdown drive capped off by a four-yard rushing TD. Richmond missed the extra point, giving Bryant the lead (7-6). The Black and Gold fumbled on the corresponding drive, placing the Spiders at mid-field. Richmond would then post a seven-play drive, that concluded with a one-yard rushing TD (13-7). Richmond would then go on to score 28 points in the second quarter, making the deficit 41-7 at the half. Both teams didn’t score in the third quarter, keeping the score at 41-7 heading into the fourth. The Bulldogs had the ball to begin the fourth quarter and produced a 14-play scoring drive that had a 20-yard Landon Ruggieri catch and a 13-yard TD pass to Neuman in the back of the endzone for his first career TD (41-14). Stats Myer tallied 121 yards and two TDs in his first collegiate start. Neuman and Taglieri both caught a touchdown. Elliott posted nine tackles. Walker and Nilles both had seven TKLs. Voorhis recorded four TKLs, two TFLs, and one sack. Jake Davis had three TKLs and a TFL. Game Notes Ruggieri now has 43 rec, 745 yds, and nine TDs this season. He moves to solo 2nd in DI program history for rec with 155. Myer posted his first career multi-TD game in his first start. Neuman caught his first career TD. Taglieri hauled in his second TD of the season and fourth in his career. Elliott had a career-high nine tackles and led the team in tackles for the first time this season. Voorhis had a season-best two TFLs and now has two sacks on the season. The Bulldogs defense held the Spiders scoreless in the second half.
