WILLIAMSPORT, Ind. — Indiana State Police arrested a man who barricaded himself and others inside a home in Williamsport Saturday morning. According to a press release, dispatchers received a report regarding a man armed with a gun on Gregory Street in Williamsport around 6 a.m. When police arrived at the scene, they learned a man with a firearm had barricaded himself in a residence. Police also determined shots had been fired inside the home and that other people were in the residence with the man. As a result, an ISP hostage crisis negotiator responded to the scene. The negotiator subsequently established phone contact with the man. While the negotiator and the man were on the phone, law enforcement set up a perimeter around the residence with assistance from Tippecanoe County and ISP special weapons and tactics (SWAT) teams. After the perimeter was established, police entered the residence and located the man. He was then transported to a hospital in Williamsport. ISP confirmed nobody was injured during its encounter with the man. Police have not yet released the man's identity. State police are still examining the circumstances that ultimately led the man to barricade himself in the home. Once its investigation is complete, ISP will turn its findings over to the Warren County Prosecutor's Office for review. The prosecutor will then determine whether or not charges should be filed against the arrestee. As of this article's publication, no additional information on the incident had been made available.
