Firefighters once again battled a fire at the shuttered InCahoots Dance Hall & Saloon in Mission Valley early Saturday morning. This is the second time a fire has broken out at the vacant building that once housed the popular country western saloon. The fire was reported about 1:40 a.m. at the building on Mission Center Road, south of Friars Road, San Diego Fire-Rescue reported. More than a dozen fire engines and 110 personnel were dispatched to the second-alarm blaze, fire officials said. Flames and dark smoke billowed out of the windows and roof. At one point, flames could be seen reaching about 30 feet into the air. “Thanks to the excellent work by our firefighters, no nearby structures were damaged and there were no injuries,” the department said in an update around 9 a.m. Metro Arson Strike Team investigators have been assigned to investigate the cause of the fire. Firefighters continue cleanup efforts after extinguishing a fire at the former InCahoots building in Mission Valley on Saturday morning. (Caleb Lunetta / San Diego Union-Tribune) All northbound lanes of Mission Center Road remained shuttered as of 2 p.m. Saturday as crews on the scene worked to clean up. Light smoke was seen rising from the building while a ladder carried firefighters to its roof. InCahoots closed in early 2019 and the building was sold for $3.7 million. It has remained vacant since then, with bar signage still present on the outside. The two-story building is currently listed for sale or lease online. The price is not listed. The structure first caught fire in 2020. Fire officials at the time reported that the abandoned building had attracted squatters and that they had received reports of numerous homeless people living in or around it.
