(KRON) – A suspect was killed after aiming a firearm at police, according to authorities.  The Fairfield Police Department was notified of a disturbance in the 2800 block of Elmhurst Circle on Friday evening. According to police, officers were alerted that a 58-year-old man “harmed family members, caused damage to the exterior of their home and was threatening to burn it down.” Police responded to the area at 6:30 p.m. Responding officers noticed the suspect was armed with a shotgun in front of the residence. Fairfield PD said there were additional firearms in the home. A shelter-in-place was issued at 7:50 p.m.  According to Fairfield PD, while police were formulating a de-escalation plan, the suspect went back inside the house and pointed a gun at them from a second-story window. Police said an officer fired and struck the suspect before he retreated back into the residence.  CHP seizes 16 vehicles in Bay Bridge sideshow investigation Officers located the suspect in the residence deceased.  Fairfield PD said no officers were harmed in the shooting. The SWAT team took over the case. The suspect’s identity is being held, police said.  The suspect’s relatives were taken to the hospital for their injuries due to a shooting prior to the officers’ arrival.  The Solano County District Attorney’s Major Crimes Task Force will investigate the incident, according to the Fairfield Police Department.
