With a blend of humor, scares and self-awareness, Trick ‘r Treat is a fan favorite for a reason." 2. Terrifier 2 (2022) Why Watch: "This film is blood-soaked and unrelenting," warned Hobaica "Terrifier 2 combines twisted humor with disturbing kills, all on an extremely low budget, adding to its charm. Art the Clown’s chaotic energy and creepy facial expressions are unforgettable which makes it a hit for those looking for gutsy scares during Halloween season." 3. Host (2020) Why Watch: "Host delivers a COVID-19 themed horror film centering around a Zoom séance – you heard that right," exclaimed Hobaica. "It combines real-world fears with supernatural elements and crazy-good jump scares. All this comes together to make this film a thrilling watch for a movie night at home with your friends." 4. Lake Mungo (2008) Why Watch: "this one is a chilling, slow-burn mockumentary," explained Hobaica. "Lake Mungo explores grief and loss through a haunting family story. Its atmosphere and unsettling revelations, as well as one of the most disturbing final moments in horror film history, make it an excellent choice for fans of atmospheric, moody horror. Be sure to watch the credits!" 5. Hereditary (2018) Why Watch: "This modern horror masterpiece blends family trauma with supernatural terror," said Hobaica. "Hereditary is disturbing on multiple levels, with bone-chilling performances and imagery that stays with you long after the credits roll." 6. Pan’s Labyrinth (2006) Why Watch: "Guillermo del Toro’s dark fantasy weaves horror and fairy tale elements to create an unforgettable tale of wartime and wonder," said Hobaica. "While not traditional horror, its eerie creatures and haunting themes make it a perfect Halloween watch." 7. The Babadook (2014) Why Watch: "More than just a horror story, The Babadook explores grief and mental illness through an unrelenting supernatural entity," explained Hobaica. "Its psychological horror is intense and emotional. So, it's ideal for a Halloween viewing that’s both scary and profound." 8. Let the Right One In (2008) Why Watch: "This film is a haunting, yet tender queer vampire story set in snowy Sweden," said Hobaica. "The story follows a bullied boy who befriends a mysterious neighbor. It’s atmospheric, emotionally layered and has become an international favorite for fans of moody, vampire horror." 9. It Follows (2014) Why Watch: " This modern classic brings a fresh premise -- an unrelenting supernatural entity that slowly, but relentlessly, 'follows' its targets," said Hobaica. "The mood set is atmospheric, unsettling and feels like an urban legend coming to life. It's an ideal horror flick for the Halloween season." 10. Halloween (1978) Why Watch: "This is a quintessential Halloween slasher that started it all,' explained Hobaica. "Halloween delivers palpable suspense, a relentless villain and an unforgettable score. John Carpenter’s masterpiece sets the bar for atmospheric horror and slasher movies."
