We’ve made it to the final weekend of October, but with highs in the mid-80s across the Piedmont and Foothills, it feels more like early September. That said, big changes arrive as we move into the second half of the weekend. A sharp cold front will bring significant rain chances for the first time in four weeks this Saturday night – followed by a major cooldown. Not everyone will see rain, and most who do will only see about a tenth of an inch, but we’ll take what we can get after an extremely dry October so far. The cold air won’t crash in all at once – morning lows will be seasonably mild in the 40s and 50s – but Sunday’s highs may struggle to clear the 40s and 50s as mostly cloudy skies and brisk breezes from the northeast take over. Temperatures quickly shift into recovery mode to start the workweek as highs regain the 50s and 60s. Mostly sunny skies return by Tuesday; temperatures respond accordingly by jumping back into the 60s and 70s by midweek. There aren’t any tricks in your Halloween forecast as Charlotte will be treated to sunny skies and toasty highs near 80º for October’s final day. Medium-range models are pointing to the arrival of another cold front by the end of the upcoming week, which could bring more rain and another cooldown. Tonight: Clouds build. Winds pick up. Low: 54°. Wind: NE 5-15. Gusts: 20+ Sunday: Mostly cloudy. Cool and breezy. High: 58°. Wind: NE 5-15. Sunday Night: Clouds remain. Chilly. Low: 49°. Wind: NE 5-10. Monday: Partly sunny. Warmer. High: 67°. Wind: NE 5-10.
