Oxlade made his Los Angeles debut last Saturday, Oct. 19, packing the intimate Peppermint Club in West Hollywood. The Lagos-born artist, whose sultry tracks fuse Afropop, R&B and Gospel, has blown up along with his viral hit “KU LO SA,” which took off after a COLORSxSTUDIOS performance in 2022 and has since amassed over 500 million streams. He was presented with a plaque commemorating RIAA Gold Certification for “KU LO SA” at the show, and earlier at the LA office of his label Epic. The 16-track project features collaborations with international heavyweights like UK rapper Dave, Jamaican dancehall icon Popcaan, Congolese music star Fally Ipupa, and Nigerian phenom Wande Coal. Oxlade, full name is Ikuforiji Olaitan Abdulrahman, performed hits “INTOXYCATED” and “Wait for You,” a track he has with melvitto, and closed his set with “KU LO SA.” “It feels great, it’s a dream come true. It’s truly fulfilling to be achieving my aspirations and desires as a fast-rising artist. It also means I’m doing the right thing. Praise to the Most High,” Oxlade said. “Performing at my first headlining show in Los Angeles was a lovely experience. It feels good when you come to a city and you are appreciated. The crowd was wonderful, the show was a vibe, the fans sang every song word for word and had a good time. And I’m going to come back to LA to do this even bigger and better!” SETLIST: O2 Wait for You KOLO Pay Me More DKT ARABAMBI KATIGORIA OFA INTOXYCATED Want You ASUNASA (HOLD YOUR WAIST) BLESSED OLOLUFE Goodsin Ojuju IFA Away KU LO SA   View this post on Instagram   A post shared by sᴛᴇᴇᴢᴀᴠᴇʟɪ (@oxladeofficial) The post Nigerian Afrobeats Sensation Oxlade Strikes Gold at the Peppermint Club appeared first on LA Weekly.
