The initial investigation showed that 38-year-old Lauren Womack, of Lafayette, was driving a 2015 Honda Odyssey east on U.S. Highway 90 when, at the same time, a 2024 Honda CR-V was heading west. For reasons that are being investigated, the Odyssey went off the roadway, crossed the median, and hit the CR-V head-on.

Standard toxicology samples were taken from both drivers for analysis. The investigation is ongoing.
