October 23: Man arrested for stabbing another man in Bismarck. A man is being charged with attempted murder after police say he stabbed another man several times. October 18: New Town man arrested in Thursday stabbing incident near Minot Airport. A 19-year-old New Town man is in custody following an October 17 stabbing incident that injured two people. October 15: Man arrested for terrorizing at Killdeer High School. A Dunn County man has been arrested for threatening a subcontractor at Killdeer High School on Tuesday morning. October 11: Woman found in Williston laundry room, arrested for drug paraphernalia possession.  A woman is being charged with drug paraphernalia possession after she was found in a laundry room with an electric scale that had suspected methamphetamine residue, and three syringes with a clear substance. October 6: Williston woman sentenced on twelve counts after selling, using drugs near children. A Williston woman is facing 12 charges — including multiple counts of child endangerment and drug possession — after a police search on Sunday, October 6th. October 6: Two Williston women charged with methamphetamine possession after K9 search. Two Williston women have been charged with drug possession after a K9 search of their car revealed they had a substance suspected to be methamphetamine, along with a glass smoking device. October 6: Williston man charged with domestic violence after choking wife. A Williston man is being charged with domestic violence after grabbing his wife’s neck during a physical altercation. October 5: Williston woman arrested after vehicle search. A Williston woman has been arrested after a search of her vehicle resulted in the discovery of a substance believed to be methamphetamine on the afternoon of Saturday, October 5. September 29: Man arrested after Williston hit-and-run. A man has been arrested and is facing multiple charges after striking a pedestrian with his vehicle on the morning of Sunday, September 29. September 28: Williston man arrested after spitting blood at officer. A Williston man has been arrested after spitting blood in a police officer’s face during a detainment on the evening of Saturday, September 28. September 27: Suspect arrested after stolen vehicle pursuit in Minot. A man has been arrested and is facing multiple charges after a police pursuit on the evening of Friday, September 27th. September 25: Officers find methamphetamine in Williston car search. Two people are being charged with drug-related offenses after officers discovered methamphetamine in their car in Williston. September 25: Methamphetamine and fentanyl residue found in Williston vehicle search. A woman in Williston is being charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after an officer discovered drug-related objects with what appeared to be methamphetamine and fentanyl residue in her car. September 25: Methamphetamine, prescription drugs found during Williston traffic stop. A woman is facing charges after being caught with methamphetamine, prescription pills, and other drug paraphernalia during a traffic stop on the evening of Sunday, September 22. September 24: Williston man arrested after assault incident. A Williston man has been arrested after attacking and restraining a woman on the morning of Tuesday, September 24. September 24: Man in Minot charged with attempted murder for attacking woman and children. Troy Sanders appeared in Ward County court on Tuesday morning. He's charged with two counts of attempted murder as well as child abuse for a victim under the age of six. The incident happened on Saturday at an apartment on the southwest side of Minot. September 24: The verdict is in: Kamauri Kennedy found guilty. A Ward County jury has found Kamauri Kennedy guilty of murder in the death of 33-year-old Domonique Kelley. The jury returned their verdict three and a half hours after hearing closing arguments, starting at 11 a.m. and returning at 2:30 p.m. -- where they went through witness testimony and several pieces of evidence. Police say Kelley was found dead in a burned Chevy Impala on a gravel farm road in Northeast Minot in 2021. September 23: Two charged after inmate found with illegal goods at state penitentiary. Two people are now facing felony charges after investigators say they found illegal goods inside one man's jail cell. Investigators say the event took place at the North Dakota State Penitentiary in May of last year. September 23: McHenry County sobriety checkpoint results in DUI arrest. One person was arrested for DUI at a sobriety checkpoint conducted Friday, Sept. 20 by the North Dakota Highway Patrol (NDHP) in McHenry County. The NDHP conducted a sobriety checkpoint and saturation patrol along Highway 52 from 8 to 10 p.m. 243 vehicles passed through, of which five were evaluated for DUI and one was arrested. September 23: Minot man faces multiple charges after domestic violence incident. A man from Minot has been arrested and is facing multiple charges after assaulting a woman and a four-year-old child on the morning of Saturday, September 21. September 22: Man arrested for felony warrants during traffic stop. A 42-year-old man from New Town, who was wanted for felony warrants, is facing additional charges after his arrest during a traffic stop in Berthold. September 22: Burleigh sobriety checkpoint results in multiple arrests. On Friday, September 20th, the North Dakota Highway Patrol (NDHP) and the Burleigh County Sheriff's Office conducted a Sobriety Checkpoint on ND 1804, between Yeagan Road and Burleigh Avenue. One of these drivers was arrested for Driving Under the Influence. Following the checkpoint, NDHP troopers also conducted a saturation patrol in the Bismarck-Mandan area. During this period, two individuals were arrested for Driving Under the Influence. September 21: One dead in Fargo shooting, investigation underway. According to a Facebook post from the police, at approximately 1:15 a.m., gunshots were fired outside a residence in the 1300 block of 8th Avenue North. Upon arriving at the scene, they found an adult male victim who had been shot. The man was then pronounced deceased. September 20: Woman arrested for post office fire on Standing Rock Reservation. A woman was arrested by an FBI agent after she’s believed to have set fire to a small-town post office in North Dakota. September 15: Williston woman arrested after assaulting ex-boyfriend.  A Williston woman is facing charges after assaulting her ex-boyfriend on the afternoon of Sunday, September 15th. September 14: Williston man faces felony charge after gun fired in his house. A Williston man is being charged with reckless endangerment after a gun discharged in his living room while his son was watching TV. September 12: Man charged with attempted murder in Friday stabbing in Bismarck. A 33-year-old man is in jail after allegedly stabbing a 52-year-old man Friday, September 13, near the area of Ministry on the Margins in Bismarck. September 12: Williston dispute leads to charges after sex offender fails to register. A dispute in Williston has resulted in one man facing charges after an investigation revealed that he failed to update his sex offender registration. September 12: Williston man charged after meth found in his car. A man from Williston is being charged with possession of a controlled substance after officers found what they believed to be methamphetamine in his car. September 11: Williston woman charged with alleged possession of fentanyl. A Williston woman is being charged with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia after police allegedly found pills they believe to be fentanyl, along with six straws and many pieces of tinfoil believed to contain fentanyl residue, in her car. September 11: Williston man charged with possession of drug-related devices. A Williston man is being charged with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia after police allegedly found devices for smoking methamphetamine and grinding marijuana in his car. September 11: Canadian man pleads guilty to destroying energy stations in ND, SD. A Canadian citizen has pled guilty to destroying energy facilities in both North and South Dakota. September 11: Woman charged with animal cruelty after Williston ‘neutering’ attempt. A Williston woman is being charged after allegedly torturing a dog during a neutering attempt last month. September 11: Former Bison linebacker facing charges over weekend shooting. A former NDSU Bison linebacker is in jail, following a weekend shooting incident in Fargo. Jaiden Pickett is facing numerous charges including terrorizing, reckless endangerment and stealing a gun. September 11: Nigerian man sentenced in North Dakota fraud scheme. A Nigerian citizen has been found guilty of aiding in an attempt to defraud a North Dakota law firm through false digital transfers. September 9: Man arrested with stolen car and 3,000 quarters after biting officer. A man is now facing eight felony counts after police say he stole a car and several other goods before fighting with officers. September 8: Multiple morning gunfire incidents reported in Fargo. Three individuals have been arrested and another has been rushed to the hospital after two unconnected shootings reportedly took place Sunday, September 8th, in Fargo — one of which took place under unknown circumstances. September 6: Man arrested in Dickinson standoff appears in court. A man is now charged and facing jail time after a violent encounter with police. On Friday, Daniel Valenzuela was in Stark County court after he was arrested on Thursday in Dickinson. Police say the incident started when Valenzuela stole a Ruger pistol from a pawn shop and then pointed it at an employee. They say Valenzuela then ran into a nearby home along 1st Avenue East and wouldn't come out. September 5: Welfare check turns to arrest in Minot. Officers with the Minot Police Department were dispatched for a welfare check for a female, which led to an arrest. When officers responded to the call, they were informed a 16-year-old female was driving a vehicle suspected to be stolen. The female left the area, but officers were able to find her driving several blocks away. September 5: Indiana man sentenced in Minot shooting. An Indiana man has been sentenced to nine years and two months in federal prison for Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, in a case that stemmed from a Minot shooting. Anthony Lee Davis was arrested in October 2021 for firing a 9mm pistol at people and their property while driving erratically around Minot. September 5: Man in custody after robbery, stand-off near Stark County Courthouse. The Dickinson Police Department has released its report of what happened during the barricade near the Stark County Courthouse. Around 12:40 p.m., police received a 911 call of a robbery that had just occurred at a sporting goods store in downtown Dickinson. The suspect allegedly stole a firearm before fleeing the area on foot. He was found in a residence in the 300 block of 1st Avenue East, where he barricaded himself and threatened law enforcement if they tried to enter. September 5: Bismarck man gets jail time for attempted assault on police officer. A man will now spend less than two years behind bars for an incident involving alcohol. Chad Tarno was found guilty during his one-day felony jury trial on Wednesday for an attempted assault on a police officer and preventing arrest. September 4: Ian Cramer’s homicide trial set for September 24. Ian Cramer will be facing trial later this month for a crash that killed a Mercer County Sheriff's Deputy last year. At his pretrial conference in Morton County District Court on Wednesday, September 4, Cramer's attorney, prosecutor, and judge discussed plans to move forward with selecting a jury. September 4: Woman arrested and charged for abusing family. A woman is now facing jail time after police say she attacked her boyfriend and child on the weekend of September 1st. Police in Bismarck say that on the morning of Saturday, August 31, a boy told officers that Karina Sayler, had grabbed him by the throat, pinned him against a wall, and grabbed him as he was trying to get away. He also said Sayler struck her boyfriend several times. September 4: Two arrested after Bismarck hotel room drug bust. Two people are in jail after police say they were selling drugs out of a Bismarck hotel room. Police got a search warrant after they'd been told that a couple had been selling pills out of a room from a hotel along South 3rd Street. During a search, Investigators looked in the room's safe, where they found 2,680 fentanyl pills. September 3: Man identified in officer-involved shooting near New Salem. The North Dakota Highway Patrol has identified the man who was killed during an officer-involved shooting near New Salem on Tuesday, September 3, as 43-year-old Nicholas Kirby of Dickinson. September 3: Dickinson man killed in shooting with police near New Salem after I-94 chase. A vehicle chase early Tuesday morning ended in a police shooting and the death of a 43-year-old Dickinson man near New Salem. According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, a trooper attempted a traffic stop at around 12:45 a.m., September 3, in Bismarck. The vehicle fled the stop and the trooper started a pursuit going west and onto I-94. Authorities used spike strips to deflate the vehicles tires and the chase ended near New Salem. At that point, according to the Highway Patrol, the suspect fired on the officers. Two troopers and a Morton County deputy returned fire, killing the driver. September 3: Man arrested and charged with 19 counts of theft after break-ins. Taylor Kraft has pleaded not guilty to 19 counts of felony theft. Police in Bismarck say the break-ins happened between January and February of this year, when people in the Wachter neighborhood told officers their vehicles had been broken into. Police say Kraft had stolen several items, including laptop computers and credit and debit cards, which he found inside unlocked cars. September 1: Dickinson woman arrested on multiple charges after tip. The Dickinson Police Department says 33-year-old Nicole Freels was wanted for multiple warrants related to a recent stabbing investigation — but thanks to a tip from the community, authorities were able to track down Freels in downtown Dickinson Friday. Freels was a passenger in a nearby vehicle. The vehicle tried to take off, but after a brief pursuit, authorities were able to take her into custody. She is currently facing two Class C felonies. August 30: White Shield man charged with woman’s murder. A man is being charged with a woman's death on the Fort Berthold Reservation. Derick Wilkinson appeared in U.S. District Court this week on two charges, including Assault of an Intimate Partner by Strangulation and Second Degree Murder in Indian Country. He was arrested after investigators found a woman dead in a home in White Shield. August 30: Two arrested in Minot for narcotics, child abuse. The Minot Police Department executed a search warrant that led to the arrest of two Minot residents. The search warrant took place August 29 to check the welfare of a five-year-old and to look for narcotics and paraphernalia. August 29: Corbin Lampert gets life sentence for murder of Taryn Hohbein. The man convicted for the shooting of 16-year-old Taryn Hobhbein has been sentenced. Corbin Lampert, who was 19 at the time, received a life sentence without parole. In April 2024, the jury trial found Lampert guilty of two felonies — Murder and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. August 27: Woman arrested after causing trouble in Hazelton. The arrest took place on Saturday morning in Hazelton, when authorites say a man called the sheriff's office and said a woman was driving recklessly around town. He noted that he'd seen her crash into a tree. August 26: Man awaiting murder trial charged with attempted murder on fellow inmate in Minot. Kamauri Kennedy, who is just weeks away from being on trial for murder, has now racked up five new felony charges, including attempted murder, on a fellow inmate. August 26: Woman charged with biker’s death in Bismarck. A woman is facing charges after police say she was involved in a crash that killed a man two years ago. The woman, who was 18 at the time, is being charged with negligent homicide. August 25: Traffic stop leads to standoff and death in Southwest Minot. A traffic stop in Minot — and the police standoff that followed it — have resulted in one man's death via self-inflicted gunshot wound. August 23: Bismarck man pleads guilty to 61 charges. Jamal Fermin, 37, of Bismarck, appeared in Burleigh County District Court on Friday, August 23, and changed his plea to guilty on more than 60 charges, including more than 40 felony counts, which include sex crimes involving underage girls. Among the charges are sexual assault, patronizing a minor and having sexual contact with a victim younger than 15. August 23: Dog dispute leads to gunfire and a dead animal in Williston. According to Williston Police, officers responded to reports of a fight involving firearms in the 1700 block of 29th Street West. When police arrived, they found two men engaged in a heated verbal argument, both with weapons drawn and a dead dog at the scene. August 23: Bismarck man charged with sex crimes involving 10-year-old girl. Police in Bismarck arrested a man who they say performed inappropriate sexual acts on a 10-year-old girl. Police say the incident happened early Thursday morning along the North Dakota State Capitol grounds. August 22: St. Michael woman pleads guilty to child abuse, related charges in death of 1-year-old. A St. Michael woman has pleaded guilty in federal court to her role in the death of a one-year-old child on the Spirit Lake Reservation in 2023. Kenzie Rose Baker, 27, entered her plea on August 17 in Fargo to charges of accessory after the fact, child abuse in Indian country, and child neglect in Indian country. August 21: Fast food felony: Demarrias sentenced to jail time in Bismarck. A man who ran into trouble at a fast-food place was sentenced in court on Wednesday. Police arrested George Demarrias after they said he pulled a gun on a customer at McDonald's. The incident happened in Bismarck in October last year when a man told police Demarrias asked him to buy him a Big Mac and a Happy Meal. Police say the other man refused and told Demarrias to "get a job." August 21: More details emerge on Williston woman’s death. We're finding out more about a woman who was found dead earlier this year in Williston. According to a report from the State Forensic Medical Examiner, Breeanna Ward died of an overdose. An autopsy performed in May showed that it involved a combination of meth and fentanyl. The autopsy says Ward's death was an accident. She was 28 years old. August 19: Kyle Kennedy to face sex crimes trial in Mandan. A man imprisoned in Minnesota is back in North Dakota, and will soon be facing trial for a series of sex crimes. Kyle Kennedy is accused of having inappropriate contact with two young boys, who stated that the abuse happened between 1998 and 2013. August 18: Fargo police arrest aggravated assault suspect after standoff. According to Fargo Police, at approximately 11:21 p.m., officers received a report of an adult male physically assaulting two individuals in a home on the 1000 block of Monte Carlo Drive. Upon their arrival on the scene, officers learned that the suspect was still in the home. The victims informed police that the suspect, a 35-year-old Fargo resident, had threatened to shoot officers who entered. August 16: Bismarck man out on bond severely beats neighbor, assaults woman, resists arrest. A 33-year-old Bismarck man, out on bond for less than four hours, assaulted a woman and then severely beat a neighbor who tried to intervene. August 15: Dunn County man sentenced to federal prison for sexually exploiting children. A man from Dunn County has been sentenced to federal prison for taking photos of minors in bathrooms for over 30 years. August 15: 19-year-old pleads not guilty to involvement in Downtown Minot shooting. A 19-year-old man charged with three felonies for his involvement in a shooting pleaded not guilty on Thursday. Police say the man was one of two shooters in the Downtown Minot incident. August 14: Fargo man sentenced to federal prison for mail carrier robbery. DeShaun Holmes has been sentenced to almost 10 years in federal prison for robbing a postal carrier at gun point in July 2023. August 13: Four people arrested in fentanyl bust at Bismarck apartment. Three men and a woman, none of whom have ties to North Dakota, have been charged in an apparent fentanyl trafficking ring operating out of the Bismarck area. August 13: ‘It was a nice whip’: two arrested for breaking into off-duty cop’s car. A Williston man and a 17-year-old minor have been taken into custody and charged after allegedly trying to break into a Williston police officer's car. August 12: Mandan man sentenced to five years in prison for assaulting girlfriend. Joshua Nerby pled guilty on Monday, August 12, in Morton County District Court to assaulting his girlfriend and keeping her from leaving a Mandan home in July. August 12: Three men in Bismarck plead guilty to roles in fatal drug overdose case. Three men who were arrested on drug charges will not go to trial this week after police say they were involved in a drug sale that led to an overdose. August 12: Ward County Sheriff’s Department seeking two active felons. The Ward County Sheriff's Department is requesting the public's assistance in locating two felons in the area. Nathan Michael Smith, 45, and Layne Thomas Bennett, 38, both have active felony warrants for construction fraud. August 8: Mother in Minot arrested for kidnapping, child neglect. We're finding out more about a woman who was arrested this week after police say she took her two kids without permission. This week, police in Minot were trying to find Cyngay Merjil and her two kids after they said the kids were taken from daycare without permission. August 8: Ray Holmberg pleads guilty to traveling to pay for sex with a minor. A high-profile former North Dakota lawmaker who was one of the most powerful members of the Legislature pleaded guilty in federal court Thursday to a charge that he traveled to Europe with the intent to pay for sex with a minor. August 6: Minot police locate children taken from local daycare. The Minot Police Department safely located Dayrion and Anya Riley on the afternoon of Wednesday, August 7, in northwest Minot. Cyngay Merjil was arrested and transported to the Ward County Jail. August 6: Bismarck man arrested after having sex with teen in exchange for vape pen. A man is facing several years in prison after investigators say he had sex with a 13-year-old girl. August 5: Krall sentencing scheduled for next year. Shawnee Krall, who was convicted on Friday, August 2, for the 2020 murder of Alice Queirolo, is scheduled to be sentenced early next year. August 5: Lundeen arrested after assault at state fair concert. A man in Minot was in court on Monday afternoon, after being arrested for assaulting a woman at a concert during the state fair. Jaeger Lundeen appeared in Ward County court, where he's being charged with aggravated assault. Lundeen is accused of stomping on a woman's head as she was on the ground inside the grandstand. August 2: Krall found guilty in 2020 Minot murder of Alice Queirolo. A jury Friday afternoon found Shawnee Krall guilty in the December 2020 murder of his former roommate, Alice Queirolo, in Minot. The verdict came after 5 hours of deliberation. The trial began July 30 and was held in Dickinson after the proceedings were moved from Minot. August 2: Arrest made in assault during Lil’ Wayne concert at the ND State Fair. A 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an assault that took place during the July 24 Lil' Wayne concert at the North Dakota State Fair. August 2: Williston woman charged with inappropriately touching teen boy. Police in Williston arrested a woman for an alleged sex crime that police say took place at a home last month. July 30: Man arrested after ramming storefront with stolen pickup. A man is in jail after police in Bismarck say he attacked a woman and stole her pickup. July 29: Bismarck man pleads not guilty at Preliminary Hearing. A Bismarck man pleaded not guilty during his preliminary hearing in Morton County District Court on Monday, July 29, to charges of stealing a car and driving it to New Salem in an attempt to steal another vehicle. July 28: Wrong way pursuit takes place in Traill County. A Missouri man has been arrested after a pursuit on the evening of Saturday, July 27, in which he drove on the wrong side of I-29 in Traill County. July 24: Williston Police update information in fatal shooting. Williston Police are providing more information on the fatal shooting of a Williston man Tuesday afternoon. July 23: Williston man dead after officer-involved shooting. According to the Williston Police Department, at approximately 12:47 p.m., officers responded to a call near the 1300 Block of 18th Street West after receiving reports of an individual armed with a knife. During an encounter with the suspect, the department states that an officer discharged their weapon, which resulted in the individual being shot. July 22: Bismarck man pleads not guilty to felony charges involving minors. A jury trial is set for a Burleigh County man who faces 41 felony counts which include sex crimes involving underage girls. July 22: More details on McMillan murder investigation in Minot. A man arrested for another man's killing in Minot is now being held on a $2 million bond. On Friday, Delon Davis appeared in Ward County Court to face charges that he was responsible for the shooting death of Mark McMillan. July 18: Man arrested for assaulting Bismarck police officer. According to police, a 35-year-old man was riding a bicycle in the middle of the street in the 300 block of Astronaut Drive without lights when a four-year Bismarck PD veteran stopped him around 11 p.m. When the officer explained the reason for the stop and was checking warrants, the man fled. July 18: Murder suspect arrested in Minot. According to the Minot Police Department, authorities have arrested 46-year-old Delon Davis of Minot in the murder of Mark McMillan on July 18. McMillan was reported missing in April and his body was found on July 2 July 18: Jamestown woman gets eight years for firearms trafficking. A Jamestown woman will spend the next 100 months in federal prison for firearms trafficking and being a felon in possession of a firearm. The more than eight-year sentence against April Bergman was handed down Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Fargo. July 17: Sentence deferred after attempted assault on Bismarck officer. A woman who kicked a police officer last year will not be serving her sentence. The presiding judge ordered a deferred imposition of sentence for 360 days, in which the person will be on unsupervised probation. A deferred imposition of sentence means that the court will not impose one, and that the case will be dismissed as long as other conditions are met. July 12: Dickinson man in custody for sexual abuse of a child. According to the Dickinson Police Department, a 24-year-old man was arrested for Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child, which is a class AA felony. Officers said they got a report of the man engaging in sexual acts with a minor, and detectives looked into the allegations. July 12: Second person arrested in June 23 Minot shooting. In connection to a shooting that happened in downtown Minot on June 23, a second arrest has been made. According to the Minot Police Department, a 19-year-old Minot man was arrested for his involvement in the shooting. July 12: Bismarck man arrested after seven-hour standoff. A Bismarck man was arrested Thursday afternoon following a seven-hour standoff that involved multiple police agencies. July 11: Bismarck man sentenced to life in prison for 2022 murder. A Burleigh County District Court Judge sentenced 29-year-old Benjamin Williams to life in prison without parole on Thursday, July 11, for the murder of 39-year-old Christopher Sebastian. July 11: Identity confirmed of body found by Minot police on July 2. Early Thursday morning, the Minot Police Department received confirmation from the Medical Examiner's Office in Grand Forks that a body that found on July 2 is Mark Ramon McMillan. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with his death, but the investigation is ongoing. July 9: Mandan police arrest man for domestic abuse, trapping a woman in a home. Inside the home, police found the woman who had injuries to her face, head and arms. She said the abuse had been happening for two days, and every time she tried to leave, the man blocked the door. July 9: Arrests made in Minot hit-and-run. Two people have been arrested following an incident involving vehicles crashing into each other and a hit-and-run. July 8: Man arrested at parent’s home after hiding in a slough. Deputies say it happened on July 3 when they were called to a property along Highway 6 south of Mandan. A woman told deputies a man was at his parent's home and was taking items from the garage. When a deputy arrived, he said the man ran off. July 6: Six people arrested in Portal for attempting to cross the U.S.-Canada border illegally. Thanks to the help of agents at the Portal entry, six people were arrested for attempting to unlawfully enter the United States on July 4th and are being charged with illegal entry. July 4: Dickinson shooting leaves one dead, one arrested. A man is dead while the other is in custody after a verbal altercation and shooting on Wednesday evening. July 2: Bismarck man arrested for stomping on another man’s head. Police arrested a man after they say he attacked another man and knocked him unconscious over the weekend. It happened in Bismarck around 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, when police were called to a home along Burleigh Avenue. There, witnesses told them they saw a man stomp on another man's head. July 2: Body found by Minot police believed to be missing person; murder suspected. Police executed a search warrant in the missing person investigation at about 10:30 a.m., July 2, in southeast Minot. While executing the search warrant, a body was discovered in the basement of the building being searched. Investigators believe the body is that of the missing 36-year-old Minot man, who has been gone since the beginning of April. June 28: Nichole Rice: New trial date set, moved to Grand Forks County. Judge Richard Hagar approved the change of venue request after state prosecutors and Rice's defense team both agreed a fair and impartial jury would be hard to come by in Ward County. And just this week, court records show that Rice's trial is now set to happen in Grand Forks County, starting on January 6, of next year. The case is set to last three weeks. June 26: Man arrested after bizarre scene at New Salem gas station. It happened on Monday night when deputies say the suspect had stolen another man's SUV and drove it to the gas station in New Salem. There, deputies say the man got out of the vehicle and hopped into a pickup that was pulling a livestock trailer and tried driving away. Deputies say he jackknifed the trailer, and the truck driver took a cell photo and called police. June 26: Nine indicted in ND for roles in drug trafficking conspiracy Nine defendants have been identified in the District of North Dakota for their roles in a nationwide series of drug trafficking and money laundering crimes with ties to a federal prison in Florence, Colorado. June 26: Mandan teen stabbed by another teen Tuesday. According to the Mandan Police Department, officers responded to a call around 5:22 p.m., June 25, about a possible stabbing at a Mandan residence. When officers arrived, they found a 14-year-old juvenile with what appeared to be a stab wound to the neck. The victim was taken to a Bismarck hospital for treatment of a non-life-threatening injury. Officers were able to identify a suspect, a 15-year-old, who is facing charges of Aggravated Assault, Reckless Endangerment, Terrorizing and Criminal Mischief. The juvenile was placed at the North Dakota Youth Correction Center. June 25: Williston man sentenced to 50 years for sexual exploitation towards minors. A 29-year-old man from Williston has been sentenced to 50 years in federal prison after he was revealed to have sexually exploited several minor children both in and outside of North Dakota. June 25: Bismarck man allegedly shoots neighbor through apartment wall with BB gun. A Bismarck man was arrested Monday after allegedly firing BB gun pellets through a wall of his apartment, one of which struck a woman in the hand, who was living in the neighboring apartment. June 25: Former ND lawmaker Ray Holmberg to plead guilty to traveling to pay for sex with minor. A former North Dakota lawmaker who was one of the most powerful members of the Legislature has signed a plea agreement with federal prosecutors on a charge that he traveled to Europe with the intent of paying for sex with a minor. June 24: Bismarck man pleads guilty to assaulting woman. A Bismarck man is not going to trial after he pled guilty in Burleigh County District Court on Monday, June 24, to assaulting a woman back in February. June 24: Man arrested for Minot shooting appears in court. A man was in court on Monday afternoon, after police say he shot two people with an AK-47 over the weekend in Minot. June 24: Man faces seven counts of Terrorizing after argument in Minot business. According to the Minot Police Department, at approximately 11:45 a.m., a 40-year-old man with no fixed address was arguing with another customer in the business, and threatened to kill all of the other customers. Upon their arrival at the scene, officers located the suspect, who was still involved in an argument. The man refused to comply with officer commands, before being arrested and transported to the Ward County Jail without further incident. June 23: Three men injured, one arrested in Minot shooting incident. A shooting incident on the morning of Sunday, June 23 has resulted in three men being injured — one of whom is now facing multiple felony charges. June 23: One arrested after fleeing crash in Stutsman County. One man is now facing criminal charges after leaving the scene of a vehicle crash he caused on the morning of Saturday, June 22. June 21: Conviction of Dunseith man on attempted murder, burglary upheld by ND Supreme Court. Bradley Vervalen, was charged with burglary and attempted murder on February 21, 2021. He was accused of going into the home of his children's mother and attacking her boyfriend, stabbing him several times with a knife. In 2023, he was found guilty of the two charges and sentenced to prison. Vervalen appealed the conviction on two points involving the jury instructions. The ND Supreme Court rejected his arguments and kept his convictions in place. June 20: Bismarck man arrested after SWAT stand-off Thursday. A Bismarck man was arrested Thursday following a stand-off with police and a West Dakota SWAT team in the 1500 block of North 16th Street. June 20: Denise Howlingwolf in court for charges relating to robbery and spitting on an officer. The woman accused of threatening to kill an employee after robbing a gas station was in court on Thursday. 37-year-old Denise Howlingwolf is being charged with three felonies. Police say they arrested Howlingwolf back in May when a gas station worker told them Howlingwolf stole a bottle of whiskey from the store. When the employee confronted her, Howlingwolf pulled a knife and threatened to kill them. June 20: Larron Lewis in court for chasing man with a gun. The man accused of chasing another man around with a gun was in court Thursday. Larron Lewis is moving forward with his not-guilty plea for two felonies. According to documents, the incident happened in May after police were called to a northwest Minot hotel for a man chasing someone with a gun through the parking lot. June 20: Attorney General shares North Dakota’s 2023 crime statistics. Attorney General Drew Wrigley laid out this past year's crime stats at a press conference at the state capitol. Some numbers Wrigley highlighted were personal crimes, which were about 30 more than the year before, at around 12,300 total. Additionally, assault numbers are also up, with just over 8,400 cases. Wrigley says, although the overall crime numbers have decreased since last year, that's not enough for the people who were victims in those cases. June 19: Cease-and-desist orders sent to companies marketing in North Dakota. State Insurance Commissioner Jon Godfread Wednesday issued a cease-and-desist order against Georgia-based RGI Data Assets, Inc., Direct Mail Processing, LLC, and Delaware-based Mail Pro Leads, LLC for sending deceptive materials to over 1,300 North Dakotans. The documents sent replicated an Internal Revenue Service (IRS) tax form requesting recipients to provide personal information. The information collected would be sold to insurance agents to solicit potential clients. June 18: Minot man with firearm threatens neighbors, police. According to Minot Police, officers received a report of a disorderly male at a southeast Minot residence around 6:14 p.m., June 18. Officers arrived at the residence where the victims said they were approached by their 21-year-old neighbor, who threatened them with a firearm. Police then approached the man at his home, who fled from officers on foot. Police quickly located him in a nearby backyard. While being detained, police say the man pulled out a firearm and threatened officers. He was disarmed and taken into custody. June 18: Bismarck man pleads guilty to terrorizing, criminal mischief in 2023 incident. Eduardo Diaz, 32, Bismarck, who was scheduled to stand trial this week, changed his plea on Tuesday in Burleigh County District Court. Diaz pled guilty to terrorizing and criminal mischief for an incident that happened last summer in Bismarck. He was arrested in July 2023 for allegedly shooting his neighbor's windows with a BB gun and threatening him. June 17: Man found guilty after being shot, arrested by Bismarck officers. A man who was shot and then arrested by police in Bismarck has been found guilty at his trial. This month, a jury in Burleigh County found Daedyn Lewellyn guilty of terrorizing and reckless endangerment. That came after an incident in May of last year when witnesses say Lewellyn got into an argument inside a home in Bismarck and was told to leave. A witness told police that Lewellyn had pulled a gun on him. June 17: St. Michael man sentenced to 32 years in federal prison. A 21-year-old St. Michael man was sentenced to a total of 32 years in federal prison Monday. Nathaniel Patrick Azure was sentenced on June 17 for his role in a non-fatal shooting in Fort Totten on January 6, 2021, an assault while brandishing a firearm in St. Michael on May 21, 2022, and a second non-fatal shooting in St. Michael on May 22, 2022. June 13: Woman arrested in Bismarck after threatening people with a knife. Police arrested a woman after they said she was threatening neighbors with a knife. It happened on Thursday night when a person called the police saying a woman was outside with a knife along East Thayer Avenue. Police showed up and talked to two people who said the woman, Taniya Red Eagle, pulled a knife on them and told them if they didn't leave, she'd stab them. June 13: Fargo man sentenced for killing kitten and domestic violence. In September 2023, a woman called the police to her home after her boyfriend got angry that she had gotten home late from work. The anger turned into a physical assault and the torture and killing of the woman's kitten. June 12: Nichole Rice: Change of venue granted. At a hearing in May, both the defense and the prosecution agreed that the trial should be held outside of Ward County. This comes after reviewing juror questionnaires sent out regarding the case, to which both sides say, more than half would be dismissed due to their knowledge or bias of the case. Rice's trial was set to last three weeks in July. It is now canceled with no rescheduled date. It's unknown, yet, where the trial will be moved to. June 11: Hettinger Sheriff’s Office seizes around 70 suspected fentanyl pills and other drugs. Last week, Hettinger County Law Enforcement were performing drug stops. They took place at the same time in Adams and Slope counties as well. During the operation, there were 28 traffic stops and of those stops, there were two arrests made. The agencies collectively seized around 70 suspected fentanyl pills, 62 suspected grams of cocaine, 17 grams of suspected fentanyl, a gram of suspected meth, and drug paraphernalia. June 10: One charge dropped for man on trial for fatal shooting in Beulah. Shawn Gramkow appeared in court via Zoom for a dispositional conference discussing the incident, which happened in March of last year at a bar in Beulah. Gramkow admitted to police he had shot two men in the bar that night. According to an affidavit, Gramkow says he used the 'n-word' jokingly, but says one of the men, who was black, headbutted him. Investigators say the other man punched Gramkow, which resulted in him taking out a gun and firing several shots, killing one man and injuring another. Gramkow's attorney says Gramkow acted in self-defense. June 6: Watford City man accused of killing his mom ordered to state hospital for treatment. A Watford city man accused of killing his mother in 2023 had been ordered to the North Dakota State Hospital for up to 180 days in an effort to help him regain competency and stand trial for the murder. May 17: Nigerian citizen convicted of money laundering and other felonies in ND. Authorities said during the trial that, between November and December 2020, the defendant participated with others in a sophisticated scheme to defraud a North Dakota law firm out of $198,336.68. May 16: Police arrest teen for DUI, smashing into another man’s car. A man told police he saw a 19-year-old man in the parking lot hitting women in the group he was with. The suspect then walked up to his car and damaged it with a knife. The man then told police his neighbor captured video showing Engelhardt backing up his car and slamming into his. May 16: Minot PD investigates SW Minot shooting. When officers arrived, they determined no one was injured at the time, but an investigation showed that the suspect had driven up earlier in a vehicle and confronted the 18-year-old male victim. However, officers say the reason behind the confrontation is unknown. May 14: Felony charges after alleged Dickinson dog poisoning. A Dickinson man was arrested on May 14 for his alleged involvement in the poisoning of two dogs earlier this month. May 14: Man arrested in Mandan for assault and drug possession. According to the Mandan Police Department, on Sunday afternoon, officers were called to a mobile home park — where a bystander told police he saw a man punch a woman as they were sitting in a car. May 14: Minot woman arrested in Monday robbery. A 37-year-old Minot woman has been arrested in connection with a Monday night robbery in the northwest part of the city. May 12: Body found in Williston. A body was found in the 400 Block of 11th Avenue West. Evidence suggests the body is Breeanna Ward's, but formal identification has to be made. May 12: Minot suspect arrested for terrorizing after brief standoff. A Minot man has been arrested on multiple charges after an incident at a hotel in the 200 block of 22nd Avenue Northwest. May 9: Approximately 1,000 fentanyl pills found in Bismarck hotel room. The Metro Area Narcotics Task Force assisted officers from North Dakota Parole, Probation, and Pretrial Services in conducting a search of a parolee’s Bismarck hotel room. Inside the residence, officers located approximately 1,000 Fentanyl pills. The pills were safely and successfully collected and secured, and the parolee was taken into custody. May 9: Bismarck man accused of attempted murder. A 19-year-old Bismarck man has been arrested on attempted murder charges after allegedly beating an elderly woman Wednesday morning with a blunt style weapon. May 9: Dockter sentenced to community service, $2,500 fine. North Dakota Representative Jason Dockter was sentenced to 250 hours of community service and a $2,500 fine Thursday, following his conviction on a misdemeanor charge of using his office for personal gain. May 8: Bond set for woman charged with six felonies relating to sexual assault offenses against a minor. A $75,000 bond has been set for a woman charged with six felonies in relation to a case involving sexual offenses against a minor. The woman was in court for a bond hearing in Minot Wednesday, and the state said she's a danger to children. May 6: Charged with 45 felonies involving sexual acts against minors in Ward County. A Powers Lake man is being held on a $1 million bond in the Ward County Jail for 45 felony counts involving sexual offenses against minors in two separate cases. May 6: Bismarck police arrest man for drunken behavior, fighting with officers. Police in Bismarck have arrested a man who they say was fighting with officers after drinking. As an officer told the man he'd be detained, police say he started kicking and tried spitting on officers — after which more officers showed up to help control him. May 6: Minot man gets seven years for fatal shooting at the Original Bar. The man who shot and killed another man at the Original Bar in Minot last May has been sentenced to seven years in prison. Travis McDermott, Minot, was sentenced to 10 years, and ordered to serve seven, for the manslaughter charge, along with five years for the reckless endangerment charge, which will run concurrently. May 6: Suspect arrested for Sunday robbery in northwest Minot. Minot Police have a suspect in custody following an attempted robbery and physical assault in northwest Minot Sunday night. May 3: Mandan man facing federal prison on drug and firearm charges. A Mandan man, Kyle William Johnson, will be serving over 16 years in federal prison after pleading guilty Friday to various firearm and drug charges from 2022-2023. May 3: Williston man who ran from, shot at police gets 15 years in federal prison. A Williston man, who ran from and shot at police officers in 2022, has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to possessing a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon. Eric Obregon, Jr., 32, will also serve three years of supervised release once he leaves prison. May 2: Details emerge in the stabbing death of a Bismarck man. New details have emerged in the death of Bismarck resident Ernest DeWayne Ells and his alleged assailant, Timothy Two Horses. May 1: Bismarck Police arrest suspect in killing of man in "targeted attack." Bismarck Police have arrested a 32-year-old man in connection with a body found Tuesday in the 400 block of East Main Avenue. Authorities located the suspect in a north Bismarck motel around 11:12 a.m., and arrested him on a charge of Class AA Felony Homicide. April 30: Mandan man faces several charges in Jamestown pursuit. The man arrested following a high-speed chase near Jamestown earlier this week is now facing felony charges. Chance Standridge was arrested April 30 after a highway patrol trooper tried pulling him over for speeding on I-94. The trooper says Standridge then sped up over 120 miles an hour, cutting through a ditch, driving into a farmyard and then heading into Jamestown. April 29: Man leads police on chase, stand-off with knife, hammer. A man was taken to Bismarck Thursday to receive treatment after a high-speed chase on Highway 85 and a stand-off in a stock pond with a knife and hammer. April 29: Two more people sentenced for carjacking and kidnapping an FBI employee in South Dakota. The last two members of a trio who carjacked and kidnapped an FBI employee in South Dakota in 2022 have been sentenced to lengthy prison sentences. April 26: Driver from Broadway Liquor crash sentenced. The 24-year-old man charged with several felonies for crashing into a Minot liquor store has been sentenced after changing his plea to guilty. Last October, Jonathan Taylor crashed his vehicle into Broadway Liquor in Minot, seriously injuring a 27-year-old employee. April 23: Corbin Lampert convicted in Hohbein murder trial. The trial of Corbin Lampert — the 19-year-old charged with the shooting death of 16-year-old Taryn Hohbein — is now complete. After six days of testimony, Lampert has been found guilty on multiple charges. April 22: St. Michael man sentenced to 27 years for January 2021 murder. Cody James Belgarde, 37, was given 327 months following his conviction at trial on charges of Second-Degree Murder and Arson. According to United States Attorney Mac Schneider, Belgarde shot and killed a boy who was two weeks past his 17th birthday. Belgarde then set fire to the house where the murder took place. April 22: Tokio couple appear in court on involuntary manslaughter, child neglect charges. A Tokio couple made their initial court appearances April 19 in federal court on charges of Involuntary Manslaughter and Child Neglect in Indian country. The charges against the two stem from the August 2022 neglect and death of a three-year-old child within the boundaries of the Spirit Lake Reservation. April 21: Two men arrested after gunshot on I-94 in Mandan. Two men have been arrested after a gunshot was fired in Mandan on the afternoon of Sunday, April 21. According to the Mandan Police Department, at approximately 12:25 p.m., a Highway Patrol trooper was following a car on I-94 just east of Exit 153 in Mandan when they heard a gunshot, and witnessed the passenger side window of the car shatter. April 19: Woman arrested for drug use with child nearby in Bismarck. A woman was arrested after police say she admitted to using illegal drugs with a child in the car. It happened on Wednesday night when police were called to the parking lot at the Sleep Inn in Bismarck for a suspicious vehicle. April 19: Fargo man convicted of possession of a machinegun and an unregistered silencer in "ghost gun" case. Patrick Opdahl, 24, Fargo, was found guilty April 11 in U.S. District Court of Possession of a Machinegun and Possession of an Unregistered Silencer following a three-day trial. April 17: Ian Cramer waves preliminary hearing. The man arrested for the death of a sheriff's deputy in North Dakota last winter will go to trial in July. Ian Cramer appeared in court in McLean County and pleaded "not guilty" to nine charges — including Homicide, Fleeing, and Reckless Endangerment. Cramer asked that the preliminary hearing be waived, which means that the prosecution may proceed with the trial without having to present any evidence first. April 16: Almont man charged in April 15 shooting. An Almont man has been charged with reckless endangerment, aggravated assault and discharge of a firearm within the city following a shooting Monday night. Morton County authorities responded to a report of shots fired around 10:30 p.m., April 15 and found one person with a non-life-threatening injury from a gunshot. April 11: Dickinson man arrested for warrant, hit police officer. An officer came across a 64-year-old man who had an active, no-bond felony warrant. The officer tried to place the man into custody, however, he started to resist arrest and struck the officer in the face several times. The officer was able to gain control and place him in handcuffs. April 11: Bismarck man starts trailer on fire during arrest attempt on a warrant. A 45-year-old Bismarck man is in the hospital after he allegedly set fire to his residence while officers of the US Marshall’s High Plains Fugitive Task Force tried to arrest him on outstanding felony Burleigh County warrants. April 11: Stolen vehicle and pursuit lead to arrest in Minot. Officers were able to find the vehicle in the 300 block of 3rd Street SE and tried to stop the vehicle. However, the 41-year-old Minot driver refused to pull over, which started a pursuit. After some time, the vehicle ran out of gas in McHenry County, and the man was taken into custody. April 10: Couple charged with fentanyl-related death of their child appears for preliminary hearing. The couple are facing 10 charges related to the incident, four of which are felonies, and have both pleaded not guilty to all of them. April 4: Minot man arrested in Indiana for murder. The Fort Wayne Police Department arrested Quantdre Octavious Mersier in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Mersier was arrested on a Class AA Felony Murder warrant. The warrant was issued on November 20, 2023 for a shooting that happened in NW Minot three days earlier. April 3: Man wanted in Williston arrested in Texas. A man wanted in connection with the theft of $50,000 or more from an oilfield rental equipment company was arrested Wednesday in Texas on an outstanding March 12 warrant from Williams County. April 3: Williston man accused of attempted murder pleads guilty. A Williston man, accused of shooting and severely injuring another man, pled guilty on Wednesday, April 3. According to court documents, Jordan Griffith was arrested in February and charged with Attempted Murder. April 1: Bismarck man sentenced to 10 years in federal prison. A Bismarck man has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison following a guilty plea Monday to one count of Possession of a Firearm and Ammunition by a Convicted Felon. Stacey Tyrone Fasthorse, 33, will also serve three years of supervised release at the end of his sentence. Fasthorse appeared in U.S. District Court in Fargo. March 29: Man accused of setting his mom on fire sees court after State Hospital stay .  A man accused of setting his mother on fire and killing her was in court Thursday for a status conference. This hearing comes after the judge required Scott Beane of Watford City to be evaluated at the State Hospital. March 28: Minot man sentenced for trafficking drugs and firearms. 41-year-old Joshua Paul Kranig was involved in trafficking large quantities of methamphetamine from Mexico to North Dakota. Kranig also unlawfully possessed and trafficked firearms into Mexico as payment for the drugs. March 27: Williston man pleads guilty to nine counts of child sexual exploitation. A Williston man has pled guilty to several counts of child sexual exploitation in Federal court, after a search of his home unveiled evidence that he was grooming multiple minors across the United States. March 26: Washburn man sentenced in 2019 crop insurance fraud. Washburn resident Kent Pfaff was sentenced in U.S. District Court Tuesday to three years of supervised release and ordered to pay $379,317 in restitution to the USDA for his role in crop insurance fraud. March 19: Woman arrested for hitting police officer in Mandan. Police in Mandan arrested a woman on Friday evening after they say she was acting violent and struck an officer. March 19: Man arrested after fight with U.S. Marshall in Bismarck. A man in Bismarck was arrested after police say he was causing trouble in a hotel. March 19: Disorderly Minot man arrested for breaking windows. Minot police officers were called out to a home in southwest Minot for a report of a disorderly man breaking the windows of a house around 5:40 p.m. on Monday. March 18: 19-year-old charged in death of Taryn Hohbein to begin trial. Last summer, 16-year-old Taryn Hohbein was shot and killed in a Bismarck apartment building. Now, Corbin Lampert, who was 19 at the time, is being tried for her murder. March 17: Minot burglary investigation leads to Saturday evening pursuit. A woman has been arrested after leading police on a chase through southeast Minot on the evening of March 16. March 15: Minot woman sentenced to life without parole for killing ex-boyfriend. A woman will now spend life in prison for the killing of her ex-boyfriend and father to their daughter. March 15: Williston police arrest armed man after he falls asleep at the wheel. Police say the incident happened March 9th when they were called for a report of a man who was asleep in a vehicle along West Broadway. An officer walked up and knocked on the glass to try and wake the man up. The officer noticed the man, Timothy Ness, had a pistol in his lap. They say once Ness woke up, he put the vehicle in gear and drove off, hitting a tree and then crashing into a fence. March 14: Minors say bar owner in Sawyer was giving free shots. The Ward County Sheriff’s Department says the incident happened just after midnight on March 3 at Whiskey Bandits bar in Sawyer. Deputies say they were tipped off that people under 21 were inside drinking. Deputies showed up and talked to the owner, Cynthia Ellis, who told them that she’d ID’d everyone but that they may have been using fakes. Deputies conducted breathalyzer tests on the minors, one of whom blew a .237 alcohol content. March 14: Man arrested after high-speed chase south of Minot. A man is now in jail after investigators arrested him following a stolen car chase and they say he was trying to get out of trouble by claiming to be a federal agent. Sterling Uleberg is facing three felony charges including vehicle theft, fleeing an officer, and illegal gun possession. March 4: Seventeen cited for underage drinking in Sawyer bar. All seventeen individuals were cited as Minors in a Liquor Establishment, and fifteen were also cited for Unlawful Consumption of Alcohol by a Person Not Twenty-One Years of Age. The bar owner was also arrested. February 28: Lincoln Elementary teacher arrested on child pornography charges. The teacher is charged with 11 counts of Promoting or directing an obscene sexual performance by a minor and 1 count of Possession of certain materials prohibited. February 15 - Minot man charged federally for distributing drugs that killed one and sent three to the hospital. February 14 - Lamplighter Lounge shooter sentenced to 35 years in prison. February 14 - Bismarck man arrested and charged after assault on ex-girlfriend. February 13 - Minot woman who allegedly poisoned boyfriend to have mental competency evaluated.
