I’m writing to add my voice to the chorus in support of Ari Ioannides for Summit County Council.Since meeting Ari a few months ago, I’ve learned quite a bit about him. His dedication to public service and to Summit County long predates his council bid. He’s a serial entrepreneur and a proven problem solver. And Ari knows how to manage a budget — something we could use around hereHe will help restore much-needed balance to the council. I’m a fan of Ari for a lot of reasons, starting with his why, which you’ll see on his home page www.vote4ari.com:“I’m running for County Council because I believe in smart, balanced solutions that protect Summit County’s character. Our community faces challenges like rising living costs, traffic, and pressures from growth driven by second homeowners and the resort economy.”He continues: “I’m committed to addressing these issues by preserving open spaces, making living here more affordable, and improving critical services for all residents. My experience on the North Summit Fire District Control Board and as a technology entrepreneur has taught me that collaboration and listening are key to finding real solutions.”Ari has a plan for affordable housing (it’s the No. 1 issue on the Issues tab on his site). The current Dakota Pacific proposal is not part of that plan. He’s knocked on a lot of doors and the resounding consensus is a “no.” Reflecting that overwhelming sentiment, Ari, too, is a hard “no” on DP.Ari has already invested countless hours in service to Summit County, including saved literally millions by architecting a brilliant data-driven solution for the North Summit Fire District, staffing two fire stations rather than the three while upgrading existing infrastructure, equipment and training.Ari put his money where his mouth is when it comes to open space. He and his family entered into a conservation easement, gifting the development rights to 260 acres of prime real estate to Summit Land Conservancy at no cost to the community. This land, already zoned for development, could have earned them millions, but instead, they chose to preserve it for the benefit of the community.I’ve been to meetings hosted by his opponent and by Ari. The difference is remarkable.  While his opponent is a lovely person and eager to serve, her ideas are largely nebulous and immature. She’s simply not ready for prime time.Whereas Ari is a remarkable communicator, has great ideas, and has thought things through. With his track record of proven success, it’s clear that he is not only the right candidate for the job — Ari is ready to hit the ground running from Day One.I invite you to visit his website and learn for yourself what he’s done and plans to do. I strongly endorse Ari Ioannides for County Council.Jimmy MayPark MeadowsThe post Start with his why appeared first on Park Record.
