HONOLULU (KHON2) -- A combination of an upper-level disturbance coupled with tropical moisture and storm front remnants may trigger heavy rain and thunderstorms this weekend. High rain chances will remain through Halloween Thursday. Tonight and Tomorrow: Light to moderate trade winds will continue. A plume of moisture will bring moderate to heavy showers to east and southeast areas of the Big Island and Maui tonight. This moisture will spread across the state tomorrow, with sea breezes potentially bringing showers to leeward and interior areas. An upper-level low will enhance showers and thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon. Sunday: Trade winds will strengthen, and showers will focus on windward areas. Some showers may still occur in leeward and interior areas of Maui and the Big Island. Monday to Thursday: Breezy trade winds will dominate, with occasional heavy windward showers.
