Partly cloudy skies linger this morning. However, this has not halted a chilly start to our morning, though, with temperatures in the lower 40s, and upper 30s across the area. Grab an extra layer for this morning. The rain we received Friday means we are no longer in the running for Fort Wayne's driest October on record (dating back to 1897). 0.34" of rain fell at the Fort Wayne International Airport. So, if we did not pick up any rain between now and the end of the month, this would be the third driest October behind the 0.14" in 1964 and 0.34" in 1924 with a monthly total of 0.35" here in 2024. There are areas of patchy fog this morning, thanks to the residual moisture from Friday's scattered showers and storms. Keep that in mind if you run a few errands early this morning. The fog will dissipate in its typical timing, by 10 AM. Temperatures through this morning stay on the more chilly side. We stay in the 40s through 10 AM and crawl into the 50s for lunchtime. You'll want to wear that jacket this morning. High pressure builds back in this weekend from the west, which will bring in cooler air from the northwest. Winds come out of a more southeasterly direction on Sunday, but we stay quite cool. This weekend will bring highs in the lower 60s for both days and will provide plenty of sunshine. Have those sunglasses. Temperatures near 60° both days this weekend. We'll see winds out of the south to southwest to start the new workweek, which will bring warm temperatures. Highs on Monday will be in the upper 60s, quite a bit above average. We only get warmer on Tuesday and Wednesday where highs will be in the upper 70s, with record-breaking highs possible. Winds will be gusting to 35 mph both days. Windy and near-record to record warmth for Tuesday and Wednesday. When Halloween comes on Thursday, winds will only be slightly less strong - up to 30 mph. Highs will be in the upper 60s and a weather system moving through does have the potential to bring rain during the day. While confidence is still low in timing, it looks like our best chances of rain will come in the morning hours. Continue to check back in for updates online and on WANE 15.
