WARD COUNTY, ND (KXNET) — With election day coming up, Ward County is opening up a few new, somewhat old voting centers. Ward County is adding three new locations where folks can cast a vote. These are locations that officials say haven't been used in quite a few years. In Burlington and Surrey, neighbors can vote at each town's city hall. The Ward County Administration building on 3rd street is the third location, and will be open for early voting on Monday. All three locations were used in the June primary election, but this will be the first time these sites have been used in the November election in years. Ward County Treasurer and Auditor Marisa Haman says the move was made to create more accessibility for people who live outside Minot. Voting machines tested at Ward County administration building "Before, we tried to keep a polling place on each side of town, so the Burlington and Surrey people maybe didn't have to come all the way into town to get to those locations," Haman said. "I think some of the citizens expressed concerns to their city councils and they reached out, so we did add those back just to accommodate those people living there, and also if people are on the edge of Minot, maybe they'd rather drive out to Surrey or Burlington to vote."
