MINOT, ND (KXNET) — A criminal investigation is now underway after a man was killed in a shooting involving two Minot police officers. The Minot Police Department responded to call in southwest Minot at 7:30 a.m. On the call, which involved a man and a woman, the Minot Central Dispatch overheard threats of using a firearm. A witness who lives in the area described what she saw and heard from inside her home. "Actually, I heard knocking. I thought it was on my door from the outside, but I didn't get up," Rose Sumner said. "The window that faces my bed was flashing red from the cop cars. And then I let that go for a while, and then I thought, what in the heck, because, you know, here you would think it is an ambulance or something. So I got up and looked out and you can tell there was a problem across the street." Minot man killed in officer-involved shooting Friday morning Police say as the incident unfolded, two officers fired their department-issued firearms. The man involved in what police are calling a domestic disturbance was shot and killed at the scene. "Well, when I saw it, I thought about the way the country is going. It kind of scared me," Sumner said. "But then I walked out and I asked the cop if we would be okay over here and he said yes, it has nothing to do with us." It's not clear what exactly led to the situation. The North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation is now handling the case. What happened here has left some neighbors with heavy hearts. "And how I feel now is I just feel sorry for the people that went through this," Sumner said. "Other than that, I'm not scared or anything." The officers involved in the shooting are now on administrative leave.
