Louisiana man dead after Friday morning crash in Ascension Parish

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Louisiana State Police are investigating a crash in Ascension Parish that left one person dead.
Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Louisiana 935, just east of Louisiana 431 in Ascension Parish around 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 25. LSP identified the victim as Rodney Michel, 51, of Saint Amant.
LSP said Michel was driving a 2016 Harley-Davidson motorcycle westbound on Louisiana 935 at a high rate of speed. At the same time, a 2002 Ford F-250 was heading east on Louisiana 935.
According to state police, "Michel lost control of his motorcycle, was ejected, landed in the eastbound lanes of travel on Louisiana 935, and was then struck by the Ford."
One dead after shooting at St. Martinville High homecoming game, police confirm
LSP said Michel was not wearing a DOT-approved helmet at the time of the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Ford was not injured.
A routine toxicology sample was taken for testing. This is an ongoing investigation.
