High school football roundup: Lake Catholic, Kirtland, Mentor wrap up 100 regular season records

Frankie Trinetti threw for 304 yards and a touchdown as Lake Catholic defeated rival NDCL, 26-17, to wrap up a perfect 10-0 regular season.
Aside from Trinetti’s big passing night, Lake got touchdown runs from D.J. Sears and Caden Boyes, as well as a field goal from Harley Forkins.
NDCL (5-5) got a touchdown pass in the fourth quarter from Ryan Lipowski.
• Mentor defeated Euclid, 51-14, to end the regular season with a 10-0 record. The Cardinals are the top overall seed in the Division I, Region 1 playoffs that begin next week.
• VASJ thumped previously undefeated Gilmour, 48-14. With the win, VASJ heads to the Division III, Region l9 playoffs with a 7-2 record, while 9-1 Gilmour is also in that region.
• Sebastian Becker, Matt Rus and Ben Loncar all ran for touchdowns as Kirtland defeated Cardinal, 33-0, to wrap up a 10-0 regular season. It’s the 13th perfect regular season under Coach Tiger LaVerde.
Max Samac threw a touchdown pass to his brother Niko for Kirtland, which did not play any of its starters in the regular-season finale.
• Bryce Peet ran for 137 yards and two touchdowns, part of Geneva’s 323-yard rushing attack, in the Eagles’ 56-22 win over Jefferson. Geneva (9-1) clinched a home game in Division III, Region 9 with the victory.
• Berkshire held a 13-6 lead over Chagrin Falls at halftime, and made that score stand up with a shutout performance in the second half for the 13-6 win.
With the win, Berkshire heads into the Division V playoffs with a 7-3 record, while playoff-bound Chagrin Falls is 6-4.
Berkshire scored on a Sam Barcikoski touchdown run and two Roman Percic field goals, while Chagrin’s lone score was on a 17-yard touchdown pass from Jacob Kay to Spencer Kaas.
• Wickliffe ended its regular season with a 44-7 win over Beachwood, giving the Blue Devils a 7-3 mark heading into Division VI postseason play.
Logan Ruscin and Ralph Jackson ran for two touchdowns each, while Nunzio Zivnoska ran for another as part of Wickliffe’s 326-yard ground attack.
• Cohen Clark ran for 112 yards and four touchdowns as Kenston defeated North, 42-7, to end the regular season with a 7-3 record.
Lucas Kaltenbach threw for 56 yards and a score for Kenston, which is playoff-bound in Division III, Region 9. North scored late on a 37-yard touchdown run by Drake Martinez.
• Chris Maloney ran for 112 yards and three touchdowns as Benedictine beat Akron SVSM, 39-8, to finish the regular season 8-2. The Bengals are headed to postseason play in Division III, Region 10.
• Fairport lost to Windham, 41-25, but still clinched a Division VII, Region 25 playoff berth per Joeeitel.com.
