MERCED, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - A known gang member was arrested Thursday in connection to a fatal shooting in September that led to the death of a 15-year-old in Merced, the city's police department said. Police say on Oct. 24, investigators executed a search warrant in the 300 block of Lions Back Court, where they apprehended 27-year-old John Flores. According to police, Flores has been identified as a suspect in a homicide of a 15-year-old that happened on Sept. 9. on the 1800 block of West North Bear Creek Drive. On the day of the homicide, police say the victim was found with multiple gunshot wounds and he died at the scene. Flores is a known gang member, and was on Post Release Community Supervision in Merced County, according to police. Police say he was arrested for suspicion of homicide and was booked into the Merced County Jail. Investigators say they believe Flores was accompanied by another individual during the incident and are requesting assistance from the community to help identify the second suspect.
