SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- A couple Major League Baseball players with ties to San Diego will be suiting up for the Los Angeles Dodgers as they take on the New York Yankees in the World Series, which kicks off Friday afternoon. Center fielder Tommy Edman went to La Jolla Country Day School, where his father, John, has been coaching baseball for over 26 years. RELATED: San Diego native suits up for Game 3 at Petco Park… but with rival After graduating in 2013, Edman went on to play college baseball for Stanford University and was drafted in 2016 as a St. Louis Cardinal. He recently won the NLCS most valuable player award. Dodgers' pitcher Alex Vesia attended Steele Canyon High School in Spring Valley where he played baseball before joining the MLB as a Miami Marlin in 2020. He was traded to the Dodgers in 2021. The first game of the Fall Classic between the Dodgers and the Yankees is Friday, Oct. 25 at 5:08 p.m.
