Officials have identified the woman who died Wednesday in a solo collision south of Gorman after an hourlong high-speed pursuit that started in the San Fernando Valley and went through the Santa Clarita Valley.  Anna Zauner, a 26-year-old resident of Simi Valley, was identified by L.A. County Medical Examiner’s Office officials. Her cause of death was listed as blunt trauma.  According to a California Highway Patrol report, a stolen Honda CRV was seen by Los Angeles Police Department personnel on Interstate 5 approaching State Route 118 at approximately 2:03 p.m. on Wednesday. A pursuit was then initiated, and CHP officers were requested to take over after a few minutes, the report states.  Newhall-area CHP officers were in pursuit of the vehicle at approximately 2:18 p.m. and continued to follow the vehicle up the northbound I-5 before the pursuit reached a construction zone just south of Lebec Road, leading Newhall-area units to cancel their involvement, the report states.  CHP officers with the Fort Tejon-area office began pursuing the vehicle at approximately 2:48 p.m. near Highway 138, but the vehicle turned around several times before eventually getting on the southbound I-5 south of Lebec Road.   Just after 3 p.m., the vehicle hit an overpass while transitioning from I-5 to Highway 138 at a high rate of speed. CHP officers pronounced Zauner dead at the scene.  Zauner was traveling at speeds in excess of 120 mph at various times throughout the pursuit, according to televised footage.  Before making her way north of the SCV, Zauner was traveling on local surface streets in the area.  CHP officers could be seen driving in front and behind Zauner throughout the pursuit for containment.  It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were a factor, according to the report.  An investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information can contact Officer Williams at the CHP Fort Tejon-area office at 661-248-6655.  The post Woman killed in high-speed pursuit identified  appeared first on Santa Clarita Valley Signal.
