Former Pawtucket Police Chief John Tomlinson dies at 93

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WPRI) — Retired Pawtucket Police Chief John Tomlinson has died. He was 93 years old.
An obituary posted by O'Neill Funeral Home announced that Tomlinson passed away on Tuesday.
Tomlinson served in the department for almost four decades, retiring as chief in 1993. His daughter, Doreen Tomlinson, died in the line of duty in 1984, according to the department.
"The service and sacrifice of the Tomlinson family will never be forgotten by our Department," the department wrote in a social media post Friday morning.
John Tomlinson's service went beyond law enforcement. He was an Army veteran who served in the Korean War.
He was married to his wife, Alice (Cahill) Tomlinson, and had six children, 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
