Former St. John the Baptist Parish deputy accused of simple battery

ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST PARISH, La. (WGNO) — A former St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff's Office employee was arrested on Friday after allegedly using excessive force during an arrest.

According to officials with the SJBPSO, the former deputy, identified as 32-year-old Nicholas Bordelon, was reportedly seen on body camera footage from Oct. 12, hitting a suspect several times with a closed fist.

Bordelon was subsequently fired on Oct. 14, and the SJBPSO's Criminal Investigations Division then took over the investigation and obtained a warrant for his arrest.
Bordelon was arrested on Oct. 25 and booked into the St. John Parish jail on one count of simple battery, and was released after posting bond. He had been a patrol deputy in St. John Parish since July 6, 2022.
