Jefferson, St. John parishes' disaster recovery centers to close

JEFFERSON PARISH, La. (WGNO) — Disaster recovery centers in Jefferson and St. John the Baptist parishes, that have been serving their communities in the wake of Hurricane Francine, will close on Saturday, Oct. 26.
According to FEMA, the Jefferson Parish center, located at Martin Luther King Community Resource Center, 1042 31st St., in Kenner, will close at 3 p.m., while the St. John Parish center, located at WestBank Library, 2979 Highway 18, in Edgard, will close at 5 p.m.

More locations are still open in Lafourche, St. Mary and Terrebonne parishes, and can be found with the Disaster Recovery Center Locater on FEMA’s website
The centers are open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and can be visited with no appointment. The centers are also accessible for people with disabilities.
Visits aren’t necessary to receive FEMA disaster assistance. The fastest way to access that is by visiting the official disaster assistance website, but other methods include downloading the FEMA app or calling the FEMA helpline at 800-621-3362 between 6 a.m. and 11 p.m.
