Police respond to reports of active shooter at BAE Systems; no threat found

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) Reports of an active shooter at BAE Systems in Fort Wayne early Friday afternoon turned out to be unfounded.
The incident unfolded at around 12:18 p.m. according to a press release from the Fort Wayne Police Department. Police were told a phone call had been received indicating an unidentified employee was on the way to the business with a gun. Within 10 minutes, police arrived at BAE Systems, located at 4250 Airport Expressway.
Police made contact with management and went inside. Shortly after police arrived another phone call was received, this time from an employee inside the building who said there was an active shooter. That resulted in Indiana State Police and and the Allen County Sheriff's Department being sent to BAE.
Police did not hear any gunshots, however an audible alert for an active shooter went off at BAE, prompting an evacuation.
A sweep of the building was conducted by police and an all-clear was given. The incident remains under investigation.
