The day's rain chances have exited and we'll continue to be in and out of the clouds through the evening. Overall, we're partly cloudy with evening temps in the 60s, dropping all the way to the low 40s overnight. Temps fall into the low 40s by early morning. The rain we received today means we are no longer in the running for Fort Wayne's driest October on record (dating back to 1897). 0.34" of rain came down at the Fort Wayne International Airport this morning. So, if we did not pick up any rain between now and the end of the month, this would be the third driest October behind the 0.14" in 1964 and 0.34" in 1924 with a monthly total of 0.35" here in 2024. Drought conditions remain unchanged for area An area of high pressure is moving in for this weekend and it produces a quite sunny weekend. Being on the eastern side of the high, our winds will be coming in from the NW Saturday and, then, turn and come in from the SE on Sunday as the high pressure center gradually moves eastward. High temps will be near 60° both days and winds will be light. Temperatures near 60° both days this weekend. For next week, warmer air from the south and southwest flows in and gives our high temps a boost. We're above average Monday with highs in the upper 60s and we surge even more - to the upper 70s - on Tuesday and Wednesday. We will be in near-record territory on these days. Winds will be strong, gusting to 35 mph We have a couple of very warm late October days coming next week. Tuesday and Wednesday will be windy, too. When Halloween comes on Thursday, winds will only be slightly less strong - up to 30 mph. Highs will be in the upper 60s and a weather system moving through does have the potential to bring rain during the day. It is too early to tell, with much confidence, if rain will be around at trick-or-treat times. Continue to check back in for updates online and on WANE 15. Tonight: Partly cloudy.
