(COLORADO) — The Department of Local Affairs (DOLA) is opening its pre-application for rental assistance starting Monday morning, Oct. 28. Pre-applications will open to the public at 11 a.m. on Monday. DOLA's priority is to serve as many Coloradans as possible equitably and efficiently. Funding is available for Coloradans who have fallen behind on their rent, meet income limits and other qualifying factors, and are at risk of eviction or displacement. Those who are facing eviction will be prioritized. The pre-application window closes on Wednesday, Oct. 30 and once it closes, all applications will be entered into a random selection. Selected applicants will receive an email invitation to complete a full application on the online portal within seven days. To be considered for assistance, applicants must be eligible for assistance and submit the completed application and all required documentation before the deadline. In the random selection process, the timing of submission does not impact an applicant's chances of receiving rental assistance. All eligible applicants will be entered into the random selection. Coloradans who are facing eviction can also call or text the CARE Center at 1 (303) 838-1200 or 1 (888)-480-0066, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. to access rental assistance outside of the application window. To find the pre-application when it opens, click the link above.
