(PUEBLO, Colo.) — Pueblo County Sheriff's Office (PCSO) deputies arrested a man after a homeowner called and reported a burglary in progress. On Friday, Oct. 25, PCSO said deputies responded to the 1100 block of San Mateo Street in Salt Creek after a property owner reported seeing a man entering the home on a security camera. Upon arrival, deputies surrounded the home and gave several verbal commands for anyone inside the home to come out, and a man then came out from a basement crawl space. Police were able to arrest the man, identified as 51-year-old Ramiro Peran. Through an investigation, it was learned that Peran was attempting to steal the copper piping in the home and in trying to do so caused significant damage to the utilities. Deputies also found numerous identification and credit cards on him that didn't belong to him. “This is another great example of the community working with law enforcement by calling us when they see something suspicious,” said Pueblo County Sheriff David J. Lucero. “Due to the quick reporting, our deputies were able to respond immediately, which allowed them to catch the perpetrator in the act. This was a great job by all involved.” Peran was arrested for theft, second-degree burglary, criminal mischief, criminal possession of identification documents, and criminal possession of four or more financial devices. Peran has been booked into the Pueblo County Jail.
