MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) -- The Montgomery County Department of Police (MCPD) said a 16-year-old boy is facing additional charges in connection to a shooting that occurred in Germantown back in August. Police said Jaiden Ochieng, 16, of Clarksburg, who was previously charged with attempted first-degree murder for a shooting in March, had been linked to another shooting in Germantown. According to MCPD, the first shooting happened on March 13. Police said Ochieng arrived at the 19300 block of Archdale Road around 3 p.m. in a stolen Hyundai. That's when he allegedly chased a 15-year-old boy moments after they got off the school bus and began shooting at him, police said. The 15-year-old was not injured. Police said during their investigation, detectives learned that Ochieng allegedly exited a Honda Civic and started shooting at the victim, who was sitting on a park bench. The victim managed to run from the scene and was not injured. Detectives learned that the Honda used in the shooting was reported stolen from Clarksburg, according to MCPD. On Sept. 6, authorities arrested Ochieng in connection to the shooting that ensued on Archdale Road. Police said as officers were taking him into custody, he allegedly tossed a handgun. Hyattsville residents push to keep local deli from closing its doors As the investigation developed, detectives used ballistic analysis, which later confirmed that the same gun was used in the shooting on Crystal Rock Drive. Police learned the weapon was reported lost in Prince George's County. On Oct. 24, MCPD announced Ochieng was facing additional charges for the shooting in August. His charges include attempted first-degree murder, motor vehicle theft and multiple firearms-related offenses. He is being held without bond at the Montgomery County Processing Unit. Police said Ochieng is being charged as an adult in both the March and August shootings.
