WASHINGTON (DC News Now) -- Whether you are participating in the big race or cheering on participants, officials are warning the public that several roads will be closed and Metro services will be impacted for the 49th Marine Corps Marathon (MCM). The marathon, also known as "The People's Marathon," will take off just before 8 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 27 in Arlington. It is one of the largest marathons in the U.S. and the world. The race is joined by Marines, veterans and supporters. MPD, DDOT to increase traffic enforcement over Halloween weekend As the race is underway, the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) and the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority said several roads will be closed, and buses and trains in D.C. and Arlington may see detours. Green Line Trains run every eight minutes. Yellow line Trains run every eight minutes. Blue Line Trains run every 12 minutes; after 9:30 p.m. trains run every 15 minutes. Orange Line Trains run every 12 minutes; after 9:30 p.m. trains run every 15 minutes. Silver Line Trains run every 12 minutes; after 9:30 p.m. trains run every 15 minutes. At downtown stations, trains will arrive every four minutes along the Blue, Orange and Silver lines between Rosslyn and Stadium-Armory. Metro said trains will also arrive every four minutes on the Green and Yellow Lines between Mt. Vernon Square and L’Enfant Plaza. According to Metro, as the Marine Corps Marathon Kids Run is underway, bus services will be impacted due to road closures on Saturday. At the Pentagon Bus Terminal, the following buses that take riders to and from the Pentagon will be diverted to Pentagon City from 3 a.m. to 2 p.m. 7A 10A 16A 16C 16E 22A On Sunday, all Metrobuses that normally make trips to and from the Pentagon will be diverted to Pentagon City until around 6 p.m. Metro said additional staff will be present to help guide commuters. ‘Giant bronze poop’ statue ‘honoring’ those involved in Jan. 6 riot appears on National Mall All bus services will be relocated from the Rosslyn Bus Terminal to North Oak Street between Wilson Boulevard and North 18th Street from 4 a.m. until 6 p.m. Due to the extended road closures in the area, Metro said some routes will be detoured or turned back around between 7 am. and 4 p.m. The routes include: 4B 7A 10A 22A 23A 23B 16A 16C 16E 38B 32 36 42 43 52 64 70 74 79 D6 MW1 P6 S2  The MCM will provide shuttle buses from Metro's Van Dorn Street and Eisenhower Avenue stations to the Health & Fitness Expo and packet pick-up at the National Harbor. Metro said customers can take the Blue Line to Van Dorn Street and then the tunnel inside the station to the MCM Expo Shuttle. The shuttle will be located in the Kiss & Ride Lot. Customers can also take the Yellow Line to Eisenhower Avenue, where another shuttle can be found. For more information about the race, click here.
