Cooler temperatures before a warm up over the weekend
Oct 25, 2024
NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – Despite some clouds with light showers around the Reserve, most are starting off with mostly clear skies and dry air, but it's a bit gustier from the East Plains to the Metro through Pecos River Valley, as well as near Las Cruces with east-northeasterly winds moving on through. The mixing of the air is allowing for temperatures to struggle to drop in metros areas like Albuquerque, but where conditions are less windy, temperatures are lower. Temperatures are ranging from the low 20s to the low 60s across New Mexico, varying more than yesterday morning.

Very clear skies will ensue later today and as temperatures will rise, east-northeasterly winds will move through Southwest New Mexico, but winds will then then lighten up while switching from the southeast elsewhere. From the morning school commute on into the afternoon, temperatures will eventually reach into the 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s, still above normal for this time of the year with yet again even more snowmelt in The Northern Mountains.
Precipitation will be not be the big story, for now, as with the more pleasant weather ahead, temperatures will mostly be way above normal this weekend, but a much bigger change will develop by next week.
