Superintendent Feagins posted a heartfelt goodbye to her executive manager on social media. "From the moment I met Julian when I was a candidate for the Superintendency, I knew I had discovered a hidden jewel," said Feagins. She goes on to say that Cross is a "product of our community and schools. His story is exactly what we want for all 111,000 of our future alumni." Dr. Feagins says she and Cross will continue to work alongside each other in new ways, "united in our mission to build a lasting legacy for Memphis." According to the MSCS website, "Cross joined MSCS in January 2023 as a Communications Specialist focusing on internal communications and project management. His work in the Superintendent’s Office began May 8 when he immediately began implementing systems and processes to support the Superintendent." He previously worked at Peer Power Foundation as a Marketing and Community Engagement Associate. Cross’ departure comes less than a week after Camalyn Turner, the Special Assistant to the Superintendent suddenly announced she was leaving her position last week. Special assistant to MSCS superintendent Feagins resigns WREG has reached out to MSCS for a comment about Cross’s departure. We have not yet heard back, but we will provide updates when we know more.
