MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- The Memphis Fire Department is now ruling a house fire in Frayser an arson incident after they spent Friday morning extinguishing the flames. According to MFD, firefighters responded to the fire just before 1 a.m. in the 1900 block of Elms Avenue. The fire department says the cause of the fire was arson, and it began with "ordinary combustibles" in the kitchen area. A house was set on fire in Frayser early Friday morning. Reports say the total building and content loss is $35,000. Woman dead after fire at Raleigh senior living facility No one was injured in the fire, and as of Friday morning, no arrests have been made in connection to the arson incident. Neighbors say the house has been vacant for at least a month. A man who has lived in the community for nearly 40 years also mentioned that the home had no electricity. Once the area was cleared of first responders, multiple utility crew members moved in, restoring electricity. Neighbors say they were powerless in more than one way, watching the fire spread, hoping and praying their homes weren't touched by the flames. Fortunately, that was not the case.
