LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — As Lexington continues to address its housing shortage, city officials gathered to open the new Richwood Bend Apartments on Codell Drive. Mayor Linda Gorton and council members celebrated the ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday afternoon, unveiling the new 83-unit complex. Richwood Bend offers one-, two-, and three-bedroom units designed to provide affordable housing options. “We know that Lexington still needs more affordable housing, and Richwood Bend is one of several projects we are working on to begin to meet that need,” Mayor Gorton stated. The mayor highlighted that since 2014, Lexington has invested more than $48 million in building and preserving affordable housing across the city, demonstrating the city’s ongoing commitment to addressing housing affordability for its residents.
