Pedestrian hit by multiple vehicles after collision in Lexington County identified

LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– The Lexington County Coroner’s Office has released the name of the person who died in a vehicle vs. pedestrian incident, says the coroner’s office.
The incident happened in the 900 block of Highway 178, in the Pelion area on October 24, at around 7:17 p.m.
According to Coroner Margaret Fisher, Robert W. Barrs, 74, of Pelion was walking across Highway 178 when he was hit by a vehicle traveling eastbound on the highway.
Barrs was pronounced dead at the scene due to the injuries he received during the collision.
The coroner’s office says the driver did not stop and left the scene.
Surveillance video showed that 34 other vehicles drove past Barrs with multiple vehicles hitting him before someone stopped and 911 was called at 7:36 p.m.
The Lexington County Coroner’s Office, the South Carolina Highway Patrol, and the South Carolina Highway Patrol MAIT are continuing to investigate the incident.
