BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) - With less than two weeks until Election Day, several organizations in the Baton Rouge area are partnering for an event to encourage early voting.
The Baton Rouge Delta Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., Pumps to the Polls, and the Power Coalition for Equity and Justice are hosting the Vote and Vibe Fest.
"Our overall goal is to make sure individuals get out and early vote. We want to make sure we do it in a fun way with music and get the families engaged to make sure we increase voter turnout," said Sherie Thomas with Pumps to the Polls.
Executive Director of the Power Coalition for Equity and Justice Ashley Shelton said they're seeing long lines for early voting.
"We're seeing opportunities for folks to actually have their voice heard and no confusion, no complications on voting day," said Shelton.
