The Titans close the regular season at home Oct. 31 against Rim of the World. “We did what we had to do,” Oliver said. “That’s what we were here for — strictly business, nothing else.” Oliver now has 54 career touchdowns for Grand Terrace (3-6 overall, 2-0 in league), which ties the school record. “The record means a lot,” Oliver said. “I want to break it, so hopefully next game I can do it.” The senior running back had four rushes of 35 or more yards and gained a career-high 265 rushing yards on 27 carries. “He deserves the record,” Grand Terrace coach Ryan Taylor said. “He lives, eats, breathes football.” A slow start on offense did not help as San Gorgonio (6-2, 1-1) had issues containing Oliver from the beginning. “That guy is a dude,” San Gorgonio head coach Chris Chaddick said. “The guy just has a lot of heart. He had a lot of ‘want to’ and desire. He’s got that dog in him.” Oliver exploded through the left side of the pile and galloped 36 yards before jumping over the goal line to score on Grand Terrace’s first play from scrimmage. “It’s just something (jumping over the goal line) that like to do since I started,” said Oliver, who reached the CIF State Track and Field Championships in the high jump. “So I keep doing it.” San Gorgonio went three-and-out on its first three drives before Jacob Russell connected with Daron Tyson in the flat midway through the second quarter. Tyson turned a simple hook upfield and out-ran Oliver 77 yards to tie the game. “We thought we were starting to figure it out a little as we got going, but,” Chaddick said. On the ensuing kickoff, Oliver picked up a loose ball and went around the left side 65 yards before again leaping across the goal line for a 14-7 lead heading into halftime. “Just a difficult contain,” Chaddick said. “Right when we think we had him surrounded, he found a way into open field.” Backed up on the 3-yard line to start the third quarter, Russell and Tyson connected again in the flat, and Tyson turned it upfield before sprinting 97 yards to the end zone to tie the game for a second time. “(Tyson) is a special player and he’s going to start getting offers very, very soon,” Chaddick said. San Gorgonio’s defense tightened in the fourth quarter, and the Spartans got the ball back in great field position before Russell hit Jasper Reese at the near pylon to tie the score for the third time. The ball changed hands late, and San Gorgonio had a shot into the end zone intercepted before Grand Terrace produced a 3-minute scoring drive to win the game, Oliver glided into the end zone with 50.7 seconds left before adding the two-point conversion.
