WAKE FOREST, N.C. (WNCN) — A Wake Forest teen is a walking miracle. John Walter suffered a traumatic brain injury a little over a week after graduating high school in June, and now things are turning around. These days, the Walter family is trying to get back to a sense of normalcy. And that includes John cheering on his little brother Charlie's soccer team at Wakefield High. "It is amazing to see him in the stands. It lightens up everything," said Charlie Walter, John's brother.       Just days after John graduated from high school in June, he suffered a traumatic brain injury after falling off a pick-up truck.  "It has been a journey for sure," said John's father, Rob Walter.   (Courtesy of Rob Walter)(Courtesy of Rob Walter)(Courtesy of Rob Walter)(Courtesy of Rob Walter)(Courtesy of Rob Walter)(Courtesy of Rob Walter)(Courtesy of Rob Walter)(Courtesy of Rob Walter)(Courtesy of Rob Walter)(Courtesy of Rob Walter)(Courtesy of Rob Walter)(Courtesy of Rob Walter)(Courtesy of Rob Walter) Rob says the prognosis wasn't good. "We were told he wouldn't ever walk or talk again," said Rob.       He is now walking and even standing all by himself. "He was not supposed to be here, and there's no explanation but all the community's love, support, and prayer," said John's mom, Ann Walter.    This family says they have seen what the power of prayer can do. "His speech is coming along, and it will be a long process to get his brain rewired," said Rob.    You can follow John's journey on Instagram to see his progress. Even though his freshman year at UNC is on hold, his parents say family is keeping them focused.  "We have all stuck together, and he has been putting in the work," said Rob.     Piper's Tavern will host a meet-and-greet with John's family this Saturday, October 26th, from 3 to 6 p.m. The restaurant will also have T-shirts and bracelets for the community to support the Walter family.  You can also donate to the family here.
