2 million+ ballots cast in 2024 general election in North Carolina

RALEIGH, N.C. (WAVY) — With just over a week before election day, the Tar Heel State has surpassed two million ballots cast, according to the North Carolina State Board of Elections.
Early voting in North Carolina started on Oct. 17 and since then, over two million voters have cast their ballots for the 2024 general election — this comes to a turnout of around 26% of the state's 7.8 million registered voters.

In-person early voting: 1,895,314
Absentee (civilian): 103,945
Absentee (overseas): 12,974
Absentee (military): 3,521
On the first day of early voting alone, over 350,000 people cast their ballots, ultimately setting a record for first-day turnout for North Carolina.
